Before the trees had even burned out, the dragons eagerly plunged into the flames to feast on human flesh. It was the first time the young dragons, including Urrax and Tairax, had tasted it, and they ate with particular gusto. Radamanthys especially liked to tear people apart with his claws before swallowing them.
For dragons, people burned to death by dragonfire during the blood sacrifice chant were an immense source of energy, far beyond anything ordinary livestock could provide.
Yet even faced with such a temptation, the Little White Dragon Ophiral still refused to eat human corpses. During the battle, she had only set the trees alight, never breathing dragonfire at anyone.
Danyla called Ophiral over and affectionately stroked her head. Sensing Danyla's fondness, Ophiral actually gave her a remarkably human smile.
"You really are an adorable little smiling angel!"
Danyla had never imagined a dragon could make such an expression. She grew even fonder of this special Little White Dragon and had her sit beside her, petting her enthusiastically.
"Scree~"
"Hiss~"
Just then, the Little Blue Dragon Digral seemed to discover something and hissed an angry warning at a hole in the ground.
Danyla walked over to look. The hole had clearly just been dug, and she could dimly make out a charred person at its entrance.
Danyla had Digral back away and told Dreamfyre to dig the hole open. A black-and-red leopard darted out, its belly unusually swollen.
"A Red Shadow Leopard?!"
Although the leopard's fur had been burned away in patches, the remaining black-and-red coat made its species immediately recognizable.
Red Shadow Leopards were feline predators as formidable as Shadowcats-just as agile, powerful, and rare. They were found only in the Red Peak Mountains.
"Hiss~"
Facing the mighty Dreamfyre, she showed little fear, brimming with fury instead.
