At their current size, hunting these Great Sea Dogs, which weighed about as much as they did, was an excellent way for Digral and Ophiral to hone their hunting skills.
Like her mother Amoros, the Little Blue Dragon Digral had enormous wings, making her exceptionally agile and astonishingly fast. Although the Little White Dragon Ophiral was slower than her, she was a better diver and could easily plunge more than ten meters underwater to catch prey.
While searching for herds of fur seals, Ophiral had already dived into the sea and caught quite a few wondrous marine creatures that lived in the nearby waters.
One example was the "Little Sea Monster," a creature just over half a meter long that often appeared in the waters around the Shield Islands. It was a squid with a distinctive appearance. Since it looked exactly like the sea monster worshipped by the Ironborn-something resembling a Kraken-the fishermen of the Shield Islands and the surrounding area called it the Little Sea Monster.
Some also said these creatures were merely juvenile sea monsters, and that sooner or later they would grow into terrifying beings capable of capsizing warships.
Danyla leaned toward the second possibility, because these Little Sea Monsters all contained strong fluctuations of magical energy, making it quite possible that they would grow into supernatural creatures.
These Little Sea Monsters were also the Great Sea Dogs' main food source. Perhaps that was why the male Great Sea Dogs near the Shield Islands were so formidable!
Danyla had someone grill half of one so she could taste it. It was indeed exceptionally chewy. Served as sashimi, it tasted even more delicious.
Besides the Little Sea Monsters, an even larger species, the "Phantom Octopus," lived among the nearby coral reefs.
These octopuses had translucent bodies several meters
