Thick banks of snowy mist, laden with snow and bitter winds as sharp as ice blades, soon engulfed everything within a dozen kilometers.
Even Hardhome's thick dragonstone walls began to ice over in the extreme cold. Despite their heavy furs, the Scythian female soldiers and the soldiers defending the walls were instantly frozen stiff.
They hurried into the blockhouses on the walls, where charcoal fires were burning.
Danyla lay against Urrax's warm back and ordered all the dragons to climb quickly to escape the blizzard.
Her long silver hair whipped wildly in the wind, and her purple eyes watched the rolling clouds warily.
These were no ordinary clouds. They were a sickly grayish white, their edges shimmering with an eerie blue glow.

Riding Vhagar, Viserys also wrapped himself in his Enchanted Dragon Wings Cloak. Not only could it effectively block and insulate against flames, it also shielded him from this bitter cold.
Just as Danyla was about to break through the clouds, a bone-chilling gust swept toward her. Even with a constitution far beyond that of an ordinary person, she could not help shivering.
But she knew it was not because of the cold. Since undergoing several transformations, her body could no longer be affected by ordinary extremes of temperature.
What provoked that reaction was the strange fluctuation of magical energy within the blizzard. It carried an aura of decay and ruin, as though it could wither all things, like the sinister draft released when the Thousand-Year Tomb was suddenly opened.
"Dragonfire!"
She abruptly raised her head and saw an enormous dark shape diving toward her through the blizzard.
Urrax immediately roared
