The voices of Myracis and Oserion seemed to cross endless reaches of time and space, ringing in Danyla's ears and slowly rousing her from the mists of time and space.
As her awareness returned, Danyla discovered with horror that her body had already fused with that indescribable monster. Thick masses of sticky, gelatinous matter encased her entire body.
Danyla could not move at all, like an insect trapped in resin.
After sensing Danyla's peril, Myracis, Urrax, and Vhagarax, ridden by Oserion, had utterly destroyed the gill-men's ritual platform at the center of the swamp.
Their dragonfire destroyed the cave entrance. Lake water, heated to scalding temperatures by the dragonfire, poured ceaselessly into the swamp cavern. Myracis had even forced more than half her body into the underground grotto.
Under the searing heat of Myracis's dragonfire, the strange monster's body rapidly melted away, turning into thick blue mist.
"Anga-!"
Myracis's roar shook the entire underground grotto. Her enormous body was wedged in the narrow entrance, her scales scraping against the rock with an ear-piercing screech.
But she paid no heed to the pain. Her golden slit pupils remained fixed on the gelatinous monster enveloping Daenerys as she desperately spewed dragonfire.
"Burn it all away! Burn every last one of those damned things!"
Oserion circled anxiously outside the cave on Ragnax. His great dragon could not squeeze inside and could only keep breathing dragonfire, boiling the surrounding swamp.
Scalding lake water flooded the grotto, mingling with Myracis's flames to form a searing blue vapor.
As the vapor spread through the surrounding swamp, the plants and animals there began growing wildly. The dozen or so weirwoods along the shore, in particular, grew several meters tall in less than half an hour.
