With four young dragons guarding Danyla, the wolves could not get through even if they wanted to protect their king. The blood pact was completed quickly, taking less than a quarter of an hour.
For some unknown reason, a trace of Great Dragon blood seemed to have mingled with the bloodline of these mutant direwolves. Thus, although this was Danyla's first attempt at a blood pact, it went remarkably smoothly.
Once the pact was complete, the gravely wounded wolf king recovered even faster, nourished by the fire seed formed from Danyla's blood essence. A faint mental connection also formed between them.
"Could all these mutated animal populations in the jungle be new breeds the Valyrians developed in the Dragon-Taming Tower back then?"
To help the wounded direwolves recover quickly, Danyla fed them all the sea monster carcasses stored in the Dragon-Taming Tower that she had set aside for the young dragons. With the sea monsters' abundant vitality and magical energy nourishing them, the wolves had all regained their strength by the next day.
The wolf king even seemed to have turned misfortune into a blessing, growing stronger than before. Danyla suspected this was because she had implanted the fire seed formed from her blood essence in his body. Her Dragon King Bloodline seemed to have considerably strengthened his bloodline.
After devouring all the direwolves killed in battle, Azure Scales and the other young dragons retreated into the Dragon-Taming Tower to sleep. When they emerged three days later, brimming with energy, they had all grown another size larger.
Over those few days, Danyla rode the wolf king to subdue several nearby wolf packs, absorbing them all into his pack. This brought their numbers up to seventy or eighty, leaving them without a rival in the jungle around the Dragon-Taming Tower.
