When they were a little over a dozen zhang above the ground, the disk in the yellow-haired woman's hand suddenly burst apart on its own. The white barrier it projected flickered and collapsed at the same time.
Inside the black mist behind her, the man holding the enormous bone bow was overjoyed. He raised his hand and loosed another arrow.
The thick bone arrow flashed through the air and pierced the Giant Crane's body. With a mournful cry, the crane plummeted toward the woods below, carrying the yellow-haired woman on its back.
The yellow-haired woman moved, floating down from the Giant Crane to land on the branch of a large tree. She looked up at the two billowing clouds of black mist pursuing her, then leaped down without a word and vanished from sight.
A moment later, the two clouds of black mist dispersed in the air, revealing two male disciples of the Black Soul Sect, one fat and one thin.
The fat disciple was covered in flab, his tiny eyes set in a vicious face. He held an enormous bone bow, and a large quiver packed with bone arrows hung on his back.
The thin disciple was short and scrawny, with a sallow face, yet he held a massive bone shield a full head taller than himself.
"She really has no idea when to quit. Without her Spirit Bird, where can she possibly run? Junior brother, you're up." The fat disciple looked down at the dense woods and spoke to his companion with a savage expression.
The thin disciple merely nodded. He took a pale yellow leather pouch from inside his robe, tossed it in front of him, then formed a hand seal and pointed.
Bzzzz!
A great swarm of yellow venomous bees flew out of the pouch.
