Hui Ming still held his palms together, but his smile faded a little.
"Fellow Daoist Si Chen, what you said..."
Si Chen shook his head, his tone rather casual. "This 'chance encounter' of yours was timed so exquisitely, Fellow Daoist Hui Ming. Truly breathtaking."
He looked at Zhou Yan and Luo Qingyin before his gaze finally returned to Hui Ming. "And after all our twists and turns, we somehow managed to reunite here. It seems all of you are bound by fate."
The words "bound by fate" made everyone present frown, though each had their own thoughts.
Hui Ming pressed his palms together and was about to speak...
But Si Chen did not let him finish. He raised a hand and pointed beneath their feet. "This island won't hold much longer..."
As though to confirm his words, a series of cracks immediately sounded beneath them.
The entire floating island began shaking violently.
"Go!"
Someone shouted, and several figures shot into the air almost simultaneously.
Black Mountain had only just taken flight when he suddenly howled. His bear face crumpled as he stared down in anguish. "Fuck! That monkey! My Fourth Tier demon core! I haven't dug it out yet!"
In the time it took him to say that, the spot where he had been standing collapsed. The giant ape's corpse plunged into the endless void along with the crumbling rocks.
"What a waste! What a damn waste!"
Black Mountain beat his chest and stamped his feet as he flew. "My Fourth Tier demon core! This lousy island just had to collapse now, of all times..."
Flying beside him, Red Wind irritably lashed him with his tail. "Which matters more, your life or a demon core?!"
"Both!"
Black Mountain sounded perfectly justified, then his face fell again. "That was Fourth Tier..."
