Arc 17The Phoenix Palace Standoff
Su Mo outmaneuvered Great Peng but was exposed as a cultivator who absorbed the souls of the dead, leaving him with nowhere safe to go. Phoenix Woman restored her power, brought him to the Phoenix Palace, and stood against sects demanding his surrender as Su Mo admitted he feared endangering those close to him.
- Su Mo revealed that Great Peng had swallowed a poisoned clone, but Great Peng exposed Su Mo’s soul-consuming cultivation and fled, leaving Su Mo convinced the world would reject him.
- Su Mo freed the vengeful spirits trapped at the Phoenix Nest and entered the Nest with Phoenix Woman, where they discussed their pasts and she restored her cultivation.
- After her recovery, Phoenix Woman took Su Mo to the Demon Realm and confined him in her Sleeping Hall while she purged demons who had supported Great Peng.
- Phoenix Woman refused to let Su Mo leave, even as she learned that the Cold Sect and other powers were coming to demand him and the Sacred Artifact Frost.
- The Cold Sect and Blood Sect accused the Demon Realm and Su Mo of crimes, but Phoenix Woman refused to hand him over and ordered the demon forces to drive the sects away.
- Phoenix Woman told Su Mo that the sects had come for him, and he explained that he planned to retreat to the Divine Mountain because he feared his presence would harm those close to him.
- Phoenix Woman told Su Mo that the human heart mattered beyond Karma and chose not to fear becoming entangled with him, while they argued over his sealed cultivation and the powerful enemies approaching.
