"No, it couldn't be."

Heaven Beyond, Xiao Qing's Residence.

Although Gu Yue had already thought of a certain possibility, she still refused to believe that what she feared would happen.

"M-madam," the maid said softly. Before she could finish, however, Gu Yue cut her off roughly. "Shut up and get out."

Seeing Gu Yue looking like an enraged tigress, the maid dared not say anything more. She scrambled to her feet and hurried out.

Bang!

The maid had barely left the room when an extremely valuable ornament came flying out and shattered across the ground.

One, then two...

It went on for ten minutes or so, until the courtyard was littered with fragments of precious ornaments. It was easy to imagine just how furious Gu Yue was.

Meanwhile, at Xiao Qing's office.

Xiao Qing was chatting with Ya Fei when someone wearing a Dragon Soaring Army uniform entered and respectfully whispered a few words in her ear.

After listening, Xiao Qing's expression remained unchanged. "Understood. You may leave. Keep watching," she said in a low voice.

"Yes, Clan Chief!"

Once the Dragon Soaring Army member had left, Xiao Qing turned to the composed Ya Fei with a smile. "Where were we?"

"Tower Master, we were discussing why you wanted me to oversee the reception of guests for the Heavenly Tomb Trial," Ya Fei replied respectfully, cupping her hands.

Xiao Qing nodded and fell silent for a moment before speaking with a wry smile. "Ya Fei, you're a clever woman. I imagine you've already had some guesses about why I asked you to oversee the guest reception for the Heavenly Tomb Trial?"

Ya Fei did not answer immediately. As one of the Heavenly Secret Tower's senior members, she had been given considerable authority by Xiao Qing over the past few years.
