Lin Mo discovered that the cultivators guarding Divine Wood City were real, not illusions, and they attacked him before demanding his Nine-Colored Auspicious Clouds. The chapter ended with Lin Mo facing their demand and wondering whether all Primordial Antiquity cultivators were so domineering.
Lin Mo resisted the Divine Wood Guard’s attempt to seize his treasure and easily held off Mu Wang’s powerful Wood Spirit Incarnation. Watching from Divine Wood City, a woman in emerald gauze robes decided Lin Mo might be key to preserving her tribe’s legacy.
Lin Mo entered Divine Wood City after the Grand Elder overruled Mu Wang and ordered the guards to let him pass. At the Divine Wood Hall, he learned that leaving a Shadow Portrait would allow him to move freely through the city.
Lin Mo obtained a Divine Wood Token and learned that Azure Painting Mystic Pythons lived by the Wei Sea, whose hides could be used to make Danqing Painting Scrolls. He left Divine Wood City for the Wei Sea, unaware that Mu Wang was leading young cultivators after him to seize his treasure and kill him.
Lin Mo slowed his journey to the Wei Sea after sensing Mu Wang following him, then chose an open stretch of ground to confront him. Mu Wang arrived with three fellow Divine Wood Guards, and the men surrounded Lin Mo after spotting the rare sword intent grass in Lin Mo’s Greenwood Mystic Gourd Sword.
Lin Mo used the World Tree aura in his Greenwood Mystic Gourd Sword to kill Li and wound Mu Wang, then transformed into a towering Wood Wight. He raised his sword to strike Mu Wang and the two remaining cultivators.
Lin Mo fled toward the Wei Sea after eliminating Mu Wang and his companions, then landed on a remote island where Feng Yan was gathering cultivators to hunt a Sixth Tier Azure Painting Mystic Python. The chapter left him considering whether his hidden ability to use ice-element Divine Abilities could help her group.
Lin Mo agreed to join Madam Yan and five other cultivators in hunting a sixth-tier Ink-Painting Mystic Python after learning that his ice spiritual root could counter it. They set out by flying boat, with Lin Mo seeking only enough python hide to make an Ink-Painting Scroll, though he learned that Divine Wood City would have to refine it.
Lin Mo encountered heaven's retribution lightning fire while traveling by flying boat and risked entering its range to capture a wisp for refining his sword. He returned safely with the fire sealed in his gourd and asked Madam Yan to notify him when they reached their destination.
Lin Mo refined his accumulated sword intent grass with heaven’s retribution lightning fire and fed the resulting liquid to the Greenwood Mystic Gourd Sword, greatly enhancing its power. The sword’s aura rose to rival a powerful Buddhist treasure, and Lin Mo planned to strengthen it further with future harvests.
Madam Yan and the hunchbacked elder found two sixth-tier Azure Painting Mystic Pythons but worried their group could not defeat them. Lin Mo emerged from seclusion, dismissed their concerns, and displayed powerful abilities that left the others questioning whether he was truly only at the Golden Core Fourth Layer.
Lin Mo used his Big Dipper Nine Swords, Spirit-Devouring Vine, and Spirit Tortoise Shell Armor to overwhelm two sixth-tier Azure Painting Mystic Pythons. After trapping the male python, he formed a second Grass and Wood Demon-Sealing Formation and sent it toward the female.
Lin Mo trapped and killed both Azure Painting Mystic Pythons, then agreed with Madam Yan and the others on how to divide their remains. As the hunchbacked elder butchered the corpses, Lin Mo sensed that an exceptionally powerful hidden observer was watching him.
Lin Mo’s Gu-Devouring Bee ate a Hidden Void Moth, bringing the fury of a silver-haired Nascent Soul elder from Hidden Void Valley down on the group. The elder demanded Lin Mo, the Spirit Tortoise Shell Armor, and the Azure Painting Mystic Pythons, but Madam Yan refused to hand Lin Mo over and warned that his strength might rival the elder’s.
Lin Mo confronted Qi Chengyue of Hidden Void Valley after the elder demanded their treasures, while Madam Yan defended Lin Mo’s strength. Lin Mo killed three Hidden Void Valley Golden Core cultivators before they could attack and turned the Spirit-Devouring Vine toward their masterless spirit insects.
Lin Mo fought Qi Chengyue and the Hidden Void Valley disciples, using his Spirit Tortoise Shell Armor to withstand their attacks. After revealing that his nine Ancient Swords were limited by his cultivation, he drew his newly strengthened Greenwood Mystic Gourd Sword and prepared to unleash his true killing move.
Lin Mo used the Greenwood Mystic Gourd Sword and Spirit-Devouring Vine to kill Qi Chengyue and his Hidden Void Valley disciples. Afterward, Lin Mo found spirit-insect feed and other treasures among the spoils, then opened a silver jar for his Gu-Devouring Bees.
After Qi Chengyue died, Lin Mo agreed to accompany Madam Yan to Linwei City and help protect the Feng Household from Hidden Void Valley. Three days later, a gold-robed cultivator summoned Feng Yan and Lin Mo to the City Lord’s residence, where Hidden Void Valley’s Cheng Ji and the Feng Household’s three Ancestors were waiting.
Lin Mo and Madam Yan were summoned to the City Lord's Manor over Qi Chengyue's death, where Lin Mo explained that Qi Chengyue had attacked him for his treasures and died in the fight. Cheng Ji challenged Lin Mo's account, leaving the City Lord's judgment unresolved.
Lin Mo faced an inquiry into Qi Chengyue’s death and revealed the Xuanyuan Token to City Lord Jiang. Jiang recognized it as the Human Emperor Hall’s supreme symbol of authority and bowed to Lin Mo, offering his service.
Lin Mo convinced Jiang Moli that Qi Chengyue had died after seeking his own death, prompting the city lord to protect the Feng Household and demand compensation from Hidden Void Valley. The chapter ended with Cheng Ji apologizing to Lin Mo and Jiang Moli asking whether his judgment satisfied him.
Lin Mo left Hidden Void Valley without finding a Danqing Painting Scroll powerful enough for his sword formation and returned to Divine Wood City to trade his mystic python hides. He learned that the city’s passages were closed after Mu Wang and several junior commanders died, and offered the attendant spirit stones to help him reach the fifth level.
Lin Mo entered the Divine Wood Trial to earn divine wood essence and found thousands of evil spirits sealed beneath a giant spirit-tree root. After one spirit attacked him, he blocked its strike with his Spirit Tortoise Shell Armor, but it prepared a divine soul attack.
Lin Mo survived the evil spirit’s soul and physical attacks inside the Spirit Tortoise Shell Armor, then discovered that Silent Dark, Absolute Light could leave it vulnerable to his swords. After he destroyed it, the strange spirit plant released a stronger evil spirit.
The Great Elder killed the Divine Wood Hall steward who had abused his position against Lin Mo, then was astonished when Lin Mo emerged alive from the Divine Wood Trial. Lin Mo met Mu Yu, who offered him a Danqing Painting Scroll in exchange for the truth about his origins and the World Tree in his world.
