Ch. 261Didn't Know Him

Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage joined the Jiang Tribe, where they met the Flame Emperor, Houtu, and Xingtian. Du Yu learned that Houtu did not know Xingtian by name, and the chapter ended with Xingtian revealing he already knew Houtu was a girl.

  • Houtu welcomed Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage into the Jiang Tribe after Du Yu startled her with a hug.
  • Houtu introduced Du Yu’s group to her Elder Ancestor, the Flame Emperor, who warned that the Jiang Tribe faced a great war despite having defeated Chiyou.
  • Du Yu saw Xingtian speaking privately with the Flame Emperor, then discovered that Houtu did not know Xingtian by name.
  • Houtu met Xingtian outside the hut and argued with him after he teased her and refused to take her to battle.
  • Du Yu told Xingtian that Houtu was a girl, and Xingtian laughed and said he already knew.

Ch. 262You Si

Du Yu learned more about Xingtian’s feelings for Houtu, but Xingtian mistook Xie Yujiao for his enemy You Si and threatened her before realizing his error. As Du Yu’s group split up to investigate Xingtian and Houtu, Du Yu found Houtu arm-wrestling Ju Wu and watched her win.

  • Xingtian told Du Yu that he tried to keep Houtu off the battlefield because he wanted to protect her, and explained that he had forgotten his birth name and now used the Grand Patriarch’s surname, Jiang.
  • Xingtian mistook Xie Yujiao for You Si and held his Bronze Axe to her neck, but he lowered it after learning her name and apologizing to Du Yu’s group.
  • Xingtian warned Du Yu that he would retaliate if the newcomers threatened the Grand Patriarch or Houtu, then left after Xie Yujiao challenged him to take responsibility for Houtu.
  • Du Yu split his group into pairs to investigate Xingtian and Houtu, taking A-Xiang with him while Jin Jianglang protected Xiao Nian.
  • Du Yu and A-Xiang found Houtu arm-wrestling Ju Wu, and Houtu slammed his arm onto the Stone Table, shattering it.

Ch. 263Original Sin

After Ju Wu taunted Houtu over being a woman and losing their arm-wrestling match, Du Yu challenged his assumptions about women’s roles and encouraged Houtu to choose her own life. He left her trying, with great difficulty, to speak and behave more femininely as part of his plan to disrupt her future bond with Xingtian.

  • Ju Wu threatened Houtu after she beat him at arm wrestling, but Du Yu intervened and Houtu stopped Ju Wu from fighting him.
  • Houtu explained that Jiang Tribe customs expected women to marry warriors and bear children, while Du Yu argued that she did not have to follow those expectations.
  • Houtu said she feared bringing shame on the Jiang Tribe and only hoped to choose whom she would marry.
  • Du Yu urged Houtu to acknowledge that she was a girl and present herself more femininely, hoping to create romantic rivals for Xingtian.
  • Houtu struggled through Du Yu’s coaching and finally said, "Your little old lady..."

Ch. 264A suspicious attack

Du Yu investigated a mysterious attack on the Jiang Tribe and discovered that Zhurong was staging harmless fireball strikes with the Flame Emperor and Xingtian’s approval. The three were creating a reason for Xingtian to leave the tribe and seek revenge for his brother Chiyou, but the Flame Emperor said no one would help him.

  • Du Yu sent A-Xiang to shelter and asked Dong Qianqiu to identify the distant source of the fireballs.
  • Du Yu found Zhurong in a forest and suspected he was faking an attack to provoke conflict between the Flame Emperor’s and Yellow Emperor’s tribes.
  • The Flame Emperor and Xingtian arrived, and Du Yu overheard them address Zhurong as the Jiang Tribe’s patriarch.
  • Zhurong and the Flame Emperor explained that the staged attacks would give Xingtian a reason to leave the Jiang Tribe and avenge Chiyou.
  • The Flame Emperor told Xingtian that the peaceful Jiang Tribe would not go to war with the Yellow Emperor or help him.

Ch. 265The Stratagem

Du Yu learned that the Flame Emperor and Zhurong had staged attacks to give Xingtian a reason to leave the Jiang Tribe and challenge the Yellow Emperor. After discovering Houtu’s distress over Xingtian’s departure, Du Yu returned to the village with a possible plan, where Houtu confronted him for leaving without a word.

  • The Flame Emperor and Zhurong urged Xingtian to say goodbye to Houtu before leaving, and the Flame Emperor promised to give her hand to Xingtian if he returned alive.
  • The Flame Emperor explained to Du Yu that the staged attacks would help the tribe accept Xingtian’s departure and keep the coming contest from drawing the people into war.
  • Du Yu told the Flame Emperor he would help with the plan, then left for the village hoping to find a way to complete his Legend mission.
  • Du Yu found Houtu by a damaged house, and she angrily demanded to know why he had left without telling her.

Ch. 266A drinking duel

Du Yu devised a plan to ease Houtu’s obsession by having Xingtian give her a proper farewell, while he and Xie Yujiao wondered whether she had a past life in the Elder Era. The chapter ended with Liu Ling in a drinking contest with Yi Di, one of the legendary inventors of alcohol.

  • Du Yu reassured Houtu that he had not left and told Dong Qianqiu he believed Xingtian needed to say goodbye to her properly.
  • Du Yu explained his farewell plan to the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage, who also shared what they had learned about Xingtian, the Jiang Tribe, and the attacks.
  • Du Yu asked Xie Yujiao whether she might be the You Si Xingtian remembered and suggested she could have existed in the Elder Era before her known life.
  • Du Yu learned that Liu Ling had challenged Yi Di to a drinking contest and hurried to the crowd, worried that their actions might alter the Legend.
  • Du Yu found Liu Ling and an old man identified as Yi Di drunk outside a thatched hut, where Liu Ling demanded that Yi Di concede.

Ch. 267The Legend of Wine

Liu Ling and Yi Di argued over which of them knew Du Kang better, then each recounted a different legend about how Du Kang invented wine. Du Yu praised Liu Ling’s tale more highly, leaving the dispute unresolved.

  • Du Yu tried to pull the drunken Liu Ling away from Yi Di, but the two men challenged each other to explain how Du Kang brewed wine.
  • Yi Di recounted how Du Kang discovered fermented grain liquid in a hollow tree and shared it with his tribe.
  • Liu Ling questioned Yi Di’s claims and told a legend in which Du Kang made wine using grain, an immortal’s instructions, and three drops of blood.
  • Liu Ling explained how the three drops made drinkers behave like a scholar, a general, and a foolish beggar as they drank more.
  • Du Yu rated Yi Di’s tale a six and Liu Ling’s an eight, praising the latter’s plot and ending.

Ch. 268I am You Si

Du Yu used Xie Yujiao to uncover Yi Di’s connection to You Si, but the real You Si appeared in the woods and killed Yi Di. The chapter ended with You Si confronting Xie Yujiao, who looked exactly like her.

  • After hearing Liu Ling’s story about Du Kang, Yi Di reacted strongly to Xie Yujiao and knelt before her.
  • Du Yu arranged a secret meeting with Yi Di, disguising Xie Yujiao’s appearance and having her pose as You Si.
  • Yi Di confessed that he had left the Xuanyuan Clan after losing a power struggle with Du Kang, claiming he had acted to serve You Si.
  • A woman in black who looked exactly like Xie Yujiao appeared, condemned Yi Di’s lies, and crushed him with an invisible force.
  • Du Yu and Dong Qianqiu realized that You Si had somehow appeared in the legend, and You Si asked Xie Yujiao which dynasty she came from.

Ch. 269Reincarnation without end

Du Yu and Xie Yujiao encountered You Si and another version of Xie Yujiao, leading Du Yu to realize that Xie Yujiao was one of many reincarnations who had forgotten a task passed down across generations. After returning to the village and falling asleep, Du Yu dreamed of an ancient passageway ending at a vine-covered door.

  • You Si noticed Xie Yujiao acting strangely and questioned her about a voice transmission, while a younger woman with Xie Yujiao’s face arrived and identified herself as the third generation from Yin Shang.
  • Weaver Girl explained that the law against meeting oneself within a Legend was real, and Du Yu deduced that the reincarnations were separate people who shared memories and a continuing purpose.
  • The younger woman and You Si urged Xie Yujiao to die and pass the task to the next generation, then both vanished.
  • Du Yu told Xie Yujiao that generations of You Si had searched for something and that she had likely forgotten her role in their plan.
  • Du Yu and Xie Yujiao returned to the village, where Du Yu reassured everyone and went to sleep without explaining Xie Yujiao’s situation.
  • Du Yu dreamed that he walked through an ancient stone passageway toward a door covered in thick vines.

Ch. 270An Uninvited Guest

After waking from an unnaturally long dream, Du Yu assigned the others their duties ahead of an expected attack on the Jiang Tribe. When Ju Wu tried to abduct Shiranui Asuka and provoke him, Du Yu crushed Ju Wu’s wrist and decided he had no reason to hold back.

  • Du Yu woke after sleeping for hours and learned the Jiang Tribe had not yet been attacked, though he expected an assault that day.
  • Du Yu sent the Shame and Guilt Brothers to watch Xingtian, assigned Xiao Nian and A'jiao to keep Houtu safe, and tasked Liu Ling and A-Xiang with protecting the tribespeople.
  • Ju Wu and his men surrounded Du Yu and Shiranui Asuka, insulted them, and threatened to take A-Xiang away as his plaything.
  • Du Yu initially tried to avoid a fight because infighting was forbidden, but Ju Wu grabbed his wrist and reached for A-Xiang again.
  • Du Yu crushed Ju Wu’s wrist and learned from Dong Qianqiu that Ju Wu was not involved in any Legend, so he decided not to hold back.

Ch. 271Kill

Du Yu killed Ju Wu and his lackeys during a fireball attack on the Jiang Tribe, then helped turn the attack into a rallying point for the tribespeople. As Xingtian prepared to leave for the Yellow Emperor’s camp, Du Yu arranged for him to say goodbye to Houtu in person.

  • Du Yu refused to release Ju Wu unless he apologized, then used falling fireballs to kill Ju Wu and his attacking lackeys.
  • Du Yu and Shiranui Asuka hid from the fireballs until the attack ended, while rumors blamed the Yellow Emperor.
  • Xingtian declared that he would go alone to kill the Yellow Emperor, and the tribespeople hailed him as a hero.
  • Du Yu told Dong Qianqiu to arrange a meeting between Xingtian and Houtu outside the village before Xingtian departed.
  • Du Yu caught up with Xingtian and urged him to say goodbye to Houtu in person.

Ch. 272One Man, One Axe, One Life

Du Yu persuaded Xingtian to bid Houtu farewell without promising to marry her, then followed him to the Yellow Emperor Tribe. Xingtian challenged the Yellow Emperor and defeated the tribe’s first defenders before confronting Cangjie.

  • Xingtian told Du Yu that he planned to return from the war and marry Houtu, but Du Yu urged him not to make that promise before leaving.
  • Houtu arrived, and Xingtian gave her a serious farewell while reminding her to eat well and train; she promised to wait for his return.
  • Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage followed Xingtian toward the Yellow Emperor Tribe, while a badly burned tribesman watched them from hiding.
  • On the fourth day, Xingtian reached the Yellow Emperor’s villages, told Du Yu’s group to stop, and challenged the Yellow Emperor to come out.
  • Xingtian easily defeated the winged guards and scattered the immortal cultivators who attacked him, then recognized the approaching scholar as Cangjie.

Ch. 273Cangjie and Li Mu

Cangjie named the nameless giant Xingtian as he advanced into the Yellow Emperor's camp, where Li Mu challenged him. Xingtian defeated Li Mu's crossbow and flame attacks, then fought him bare-handed and sent him flying with a powerful punch.

  • Cangjie refused to fight Xingtian, named him Xingtian, and promised that future generations would remember his assault on the Yellow Emperor's camp.
  • Li Mu confronted Xingtian and fired a crossbow bolt covered in talismans, but Xingtian caught it and endured Li Mu's karmic flames.
  • Li Mu unleashed two volleys of flaming bolts while Xingtian hurled the Qi Axe at him, leaving Li Mu wounded and his crossbow shattered.
  • Xingtian challenged Li Mu to fight bare-handed, and Li Mu set aside his crossbow and accepted.
  • Xingtian and Li Mu traded blows, but Xingtian struck Li Mu hard enough to wound his internal organs and send him flying.

Ch. 274The Four Generals

Xingtian fought the Yellow Emperor’s Four Generals while the Yellow Emperor learned that Nameless One had come to challenge his tribe and sent Du Kang to question him. As the generals unleashed their strongest spells, Xingtian began casting an earth spell of his own.

  • Feng Hou, Da Hong, and Chang Xian arrived and took over the fight after Li Mu admitted he could not defeat Xingtian.
  • Li Mu told Cangjie he believed Xingtian would turn the Yellow Emperor’s camp upside down but would target the Yellow Emperor rather than slaughter his tribesmen.
  • Ju Wu told the Yellow Emperor that Nameless One was connected to Houtu and had come on the Flame Emperor’s orders, prompting the Yellow Emperor to seek a face-to-face meeting.
  • Du Kang volunteered to ask Nameless One why he had come and promised to bring him to the Yellow Emperor if his reasons were sound.
  • Feng Hou, Da Hong, and Chang Xian attacked Xingtian with powerful spells, but he blocked their first assault with a stone wall.
  • Xingtian put away his axe and began casting an earth spell, declaring, “I am the earth. I am all things-Ten Thousand Things Kill!”

Ch. 275A battle for the ages

Xingtian fought past the Four Generals and met Du Kang, who let him continue after hearing his reasons for seeking revenge. Xingtian entered the Yellow Emperor’s hall to face him in a duel, leaving Du Yu wondering how the Yellow Emperor would later be said to have used a stratagem to decapitate Xingtian.

  • Xingtian overwhelmed Feng Hou, Da Hong, and Chang Xian with Houtu’s Ten Thousand Things Kill, then spared them and walked onward.
  • Du Yu and his companions passed the Four Generals and Cangjie, who discussed whether they would remain loyal to the Yellow Emperor.
  • Xingtian and Du Kang held a drinking contest as they questioned each other; Du Kang left wine in the wineskin and allowed Xingtian to proceed.
  • Xingtian named Du Kang’s mortal grandson Nanshan, and Du Yu felt that the name was strangely familiar.
  • Xingtian entered the hall and challenged the Yellow Emperor, who drew the Xuanyuan Sword and accepted the duel.
  • Du Yu watched them prepare to fight and questioned the legend that the Yellow Emperor had used a stratagem to cut off Xingtian’s head.

Ch. 276Xingtian Battles the Yellow Emperor

Xingtian and the Yellow Emperor fought through the sky, killed the Thunder God when he interrupted them, and continued their duel until their weapons shattered and they grappled barehanded. Meanwhile, Ju Wu survived and threatened to kill Wuming, only for Du Yu to reveal that his group had brought Wuming here to die.

  • Xingtian and the Yellow Emperor battled fiercely, bringing down the building before continuing their fight in the sky.
  • The Thunder God emerged from the clouds and attacked the duelists, but Xingtian and the Yellow Emperor joined forces to kill him.
  • Xingtian and the Yellow Emperor resumed their battle, cracked their weapons, then dropped them and fought hand to hand as blood rained down.
  • Ju Wu, badly burned but alive, confronted Du Yu and threatened to ensure Wuming died there.
  • Jin Jianglang and the others moved to punish Ju Wu, but Du Yu stopped them and revealed that they had protected Wuming so he could die.

Ch. 277May You Win Every Battle

Du Yu watched You Si freeze the battlefield and offer Xingtian a chance at eternal life, while realizing Xingtian’s death could not be undone. As Xingtian sacrificed himself to create the immortal embryo named Qisheng, Du Yu discovered that he had brought Old Zhan into being.

  • Ju Wu tricked Xingtian into hesitating during his final clash with the Yellow Emperor, and the Yellow Emperor’s sword struck Xingtian’s neck.
  • You Si appeared and froze the battlefield with a magic array, then offered Xingtian eternal life if he joined her.
  • Du Yu realized Xingtian had no attachments left and feared he would die for good, so he asked Dong Qianqiu to send Zhan Qisheng into the legend.
  • Zhan Qisheng tried to enter but became too dizzy to use his Time Spell, sensing another version of himself nearby.
  • Xingtian declared that he must shoulder the Zhan Tribe’s mission and transformed his body into an immortal embryo within the Qi Axe.
  • Xingtian named the embryo Qisheng and sent it flying away, prompting Du Yu to realize that he had brought Old Zhan into being.

Ch. 278Xingtian fell in battle

Xingtian died after You Si intervened, and the Yellow Emperor killed Ju Wu in revenge. Du Yu and the others searched for a way to bring Xingtian back, and Shiranui Asuka’s Other Shore Talismans let them see ghosts; they opened their eyes to a horrifying sight.

  • You Si vanished after Xingtian refused to change his mind, and Xingtian’s head fell as his life faded.
  • The Yellow Emperor killed Ju Wu, then agreed to bury Xingtian’s head while leaving his body undisturbed.
  • Du Yu concluded that Xingtian could not rise again because the era had no Underworld, and he sought a way to find Xingtian’s soul.
  • Shiranui Asuka revealed her Other Shore Talismans, which allowed the group to see ghosts, and explained how they could use a Spirit-Medium Formation to speak with Xingtian.
  • Du Yu sent the group out to search for Xingtian’s soul, and they put on the talismans and opened their eyes to a horrifying scene.

Ch. 279The Pangolin and the Diplomat

Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage searched a vast crowd of ghosts for Xingtian, while the Yellow Emperor ordered Xingtian’s body honored and his head buried. Du Yu’s unlikely soul choices seemed useless until Zhongli Chun recalled that Su Qin had skills that might help identify someone.

  • Du Yu and the others were surrounded by ghosts, and a resentful female ghost repeatedly tried to catch his eye before he refocused on finding Xingtian.
  • Du Yu searched through thousands of ghosts but could not locate Xingtian, and Dong Qianqiu could not see the spirits or help track them.
  • The Yellow Emperor ordered Feng Hou to bury Xingtian’s head on Mount Changyang and commanded that Xingtian’s body be protected and honored until Du Yu returned.
  • Du Yu opened his Crossing Starter Pack hoping for a flying ability, but discovered it contained Tuxing Sun’s soul and Su Qin’s soul instead.
  • Zhongli Chun told Du Yu that Su Qin was skilled at “Galloping Horse Reading Monuments” and “Recognizing Sheep at a Glance,” which might help him find Xingtian.

Ch. 280Believe it or not

Du Yu used the souls of Su Qin and Tuxing Sun to search for Xingtian, then found him and explained that Houtu’s future depended on what happened between them. Xingtian listened but rejected Du Yu’s account of the legendary battle that was supposed to follow his death.

  • Du Yu swallowed the souls of Su Qin and Tuxing Sun and used their abilities to search the dead for Xingtian.
  • Du Yu found Xingtian on the road back to Houtu and summoned Shiranui Asuka and the others to form a communication formation.
  • Du Yu told Xingtian that he had met Houtu across time and that she would fall into demonic madness five thousand years later if their bond was not handled correctly.
  • Xingtian questioned how Du Yu could help Houtu and pointed out that he had already died as recorded in legend.
  • Du Yu explained that the legends said Xingtian would rise after his head was cut off and fight again, but Xingtian accused him of lying.
