Ch. 341Giving Up the Eight Directions Ghost Record

Du Yu and the Underworld rulers arranged a three-day absence for the Judges and Impermanence officers so he could face Great Dark Heaven without disrupting the mortal world. After the others left Houtu’s Cave Abode, Du Yu returned the Eight Directions Ghost Record and erased his name from it.

  • The Northern Emperor proposed delaying everyone’s recorded death by three days while allowing serious criminals to die and have their souls scattered, and the Eastern Peak Great Emperor of Mount Tai agreed after Houtu gave her approval.
  • The Northern Emperor and the Eastern Emperor realized Du Yu had come to speak privately with Houtu and left her Cave Abode.
  • Du Yu told Houtu he no longer wanted the Eight Directions Ghost Record and returned it to her.
  • Du Yu wiped his name from the center of the record and formally relinquished it.

Ch. 342Concealment

Du Yu gave up his name in the Eight Directions Ghost Record and helped set the Underworld’s evacuation in motion, while secretly visiting people he knew. The chapter ended with “Time” wondering how Du Yu planned to turn the tables without his usual protections or the Immortals.

  • Du Yu erased his name from the Eight Directions Ghost Record, and Houtu assigned Chi Ghost to protect him.
  • The Underworld’s residents began evacuating after the Eastern Emperor and Northern Emperor issued their orders.
  • Du Yu told Chi Ghost that he had chosen to give his life to Great Dark Heaven rather than let the catastrophe destroy the Immortals.
  • Du Yu visited Cui Jue during the evacuation, and Cui Jue began to realize what Du Yu was implying.
  • Du Yu asked Chi Ghost to take him to Impermanence Hall so he could visit Seventh Master and Eighth Master.
  • “Time” questioned whether Du Yu could change the outcome without the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage, the Eight Directions Ghost Record, or the Immortals.

Ch. 343Hidden Grudges

Du Yu dismissed his allies and waited alone at the Legend Management Bureau, leaving “Time” unsure of his intentions. Great Dark Heaven arrived to settle an old grudge and, relying on “Time”’s information, prepared to attack Du Yu while the powerful Immortals gathered on Kunlun Mountain.

  • Du Yu visited Fan Wujiao, Xie Bi'an, Ox-Head, Horse-Face, Zhong Kui, Nezha, Yang Jian, Chang'e, and the Jade Emperor without telling them his plans.
  • Du Yu sent Chi Ghost away and remained alone in the Legend Management Bureau, saying everything would end the next day.
  • Great Dark Heaven appeared before “Time” and asked for information to guarantee victory over Du Yu.
  • “Time” told Great Dark Heaven that Du Yu had abandoned his defenses and was waiting alone, but discovered that the Heavenly Venerables were not in Western Heaven's Pure Land.
  • “Time” located the Queen Mother of the West and the other True Immortals on Kunlun Mountain, and Great Dark Heaven left to attack Du Yu.

Ch. 344Extreme Darkness Strikes

Du Yu faced He Suoyi and the immense forces of the Extreme Darkness World as they descended on the Legend Management Bureau. After they argued over cause and effect, Du Yu waited for the coming fight with murderous intent.

  • Du Yu saw Great Dark Heaven arrive beneath enormous black clouds, accompanied by a hundred thousand chanting monks, fifteen Black Arhat Venerables, and ten Great Luo Golden Immortals.
  • He Suoyi landed before Du Yu and revealed that he now called himself Subhuti, the foremost disciple of Great Dark Heaven.
  • Du Yu and He Suoyi exchanged barbed remarks about the destruction of the Legend Management Bureau and Dong Qianqiu's injuries.
  • He Suoyi claimed Du Yu's forces had caused his loss of a leg and that the Extreme Darkness World had come to deliver the consequence.
  • Du Yu countered that He Suoyi had started the feud by killing the Bureau's employees and injuring Dong Qianqiu, and said he would take He Suoyi's life.

Ch. 345The Heavenly Venerables Descend

Du Yu revealed that he had kept the Eight Directions Ghost Record and struck He Suoyi, then summoned hidden allies to attack Great Dark Heaven’s forces. The Three Pure Ones and Gouchen Great Emperor arrived, while the battle against the invading army was still unfolding.

  • Du Yu told He Suoyi he was fired from the Legend Management Bureau, then attacked him with a punch powered by Zhan Qisheng.
  • He Suoyi repaired his shattered jaw and summoned a Buddha as Great Dark Heaven ordered him to kill Du Yu.
  • Du Yu called for the attackers to be killed, and the Queen Mother of the West’s Nine Heavens Divine Thunder and Lady Houtu’s Ten Thousand Things Kill struck at Great Dark Heaven.
  • The Taiyi Demon-Slaying Sword appeared and cut off a black-robed monk’s arms as the monks rushed toward Du Yu.
  • The Three Pure Ones arrived, and the Gouchen Great Emperor descended amid the standoff.

Ch. 346The Plan

Du Yu explained how he used the Legend Management Bureau’s hidden teleportation array and his connection to Sage to organize an ambush against He Suoyi’s forces. He revealed that he had gambled everything on misleading his enemies with a fake Eight Directions Ghost Record as the immortals gathered overhead.

  • Lady Houtu, the Queen Mother of the West, and the immortals emerged from the Legend Management Bureau, surrounding He Suoyi’s forces.
  • Du Yu explained that the Queen Mother of the West’s position as director gave her access to a hidden teleportation array between Kunlun Mountain and the Bureau.
  • Du Yu told He Suoyi that he had deduced Time was tracking him and had planned around the enemy’s knowledge of his movements.
  • Du Yu revealed that Sage used the Legend Management Bureau as his equipment and that Xiao Qi relayed Du Yu’s mentally rehearsed plan to people in the Legend.
  • Du Yu explained that Shen Shi had made a fake Eight Directions Ghost Record, allowing Du Yu to trick He Suoyi into believing he had surrendered the real one.

Ch. 347Tens of Thousands of Reinforcements

Du Yu’s ambush faced Great Dark Heaven’s hundred thousand Black Monks, and He Suoyi warned that the black Buddha could not be defeated. Just as battle began, reinforcements from Olympus, the Four Seas, Heaven, and the Armed Monster Alliance arrived to aid Du Yu’s side.

  • He Suoyi told Du Yu that Great Dark Heaven had never been defeated and flew to join him.
  • Great Dark Heaven summoned a black Buddha for each of his hundred thousand Black Monks and ordered them to begin battle.
  • The Chinese Immortals prepared to fight as the monks charged, but a thunderbolt struck and scattered their formation.
  • Empress Medusa arrived with ten thousand Greek Immortals and attacked the monks with thunder.
  • A Can, A Kui, the Four Sea Dragon Kings, and more than ten thousand Crab Generals arrived to support Du Yu.
  • Nezha and Li Jing brought ten thousand Heavenly Generals, while Shiranui Asuka opened a Portal for Shuten Doji and the Armed Monster Alliance.

Ch. 348The eve of battle

Du Yu assembled the immortals, monsters, and other reinforcements to face Great Dark Heaven, who remained untouched while reciting the Heart Sutra. As the battle began, Du Yu urged his allies to prioritize survival, leaving the outcome uncertain.

  • Shuten Doji summoned tens of thousands of monster riders, and Shiranui Jinkuro argued with Ibaraki Doji about riding safely.
  • Great Dark Heaven recited the Heart Sutra and declared himself both Great Sun Tathagata and Great Dark Heaven before his monks attacked the immortals.
  • Du Yu's allies, including A Can, A Kui, Liu Ling, Xie Yujiao, and Xiao Nian, joined him despite his objections to the mortal and less powerful fighters being there.
  • The Heavenly Venerables attacked Great Dark Heaven, but their spells failed to affect him as black energy swirled around him.
  • Du Yu told the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage to keep everyone alive and asked future Xiao Qi to help the battlefield however she could.
  • Xiao Qi said Sage would offer a strategy at the right moment, and Du Yu asked her to tell Sage to prepare the Legend Management Bureau for everyone's return.

Ch. 349Maudgalyayana

Du Yu was nearly overwhelmed by Maudgalyayana’s black mist until Yang Jian intervened and stayed behind to fight him. Maudgalyayana exposed Yang Jian’s anguish over his mother’s imprisonment as their battle continued.

  • Maudgalyayana attacked Du Yu and knocked down the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage, while Xiao Qi warned that he was near the Heavenly Venerable realm.
  • Du Yu struggled to withstand Maudgalyayana’s black mist, and a second clump threatened to overwhelm him.
  • Yang Jian arrived and dispersed both clumps of black mist, allowing Du Yu and the others to leave.
  • Yang Jian and Maudgalyayana exchanged powerful blows, and Maudgalyayana taunted Yang Jian about his imprisoned mother beneath Peach Mountain.

Ch. 350Mahakasyapa

Yang Jian resisted Maudgalyayana’s attempt to draw him into Extreme Darkness after Ibaraki Doji reminded him not to betray his allies. Elsewhere, Black Impermanence faced Mahakasyapa, a scar-covered ascetic and one of Buddha’s Ten Great Disciples, while White Impermanence went to seek other opponents.

  • Maudgalyayana attacked Yang Jian and tried to turn his suffering over his mother into a reason to join Extreme Darkness.
  • Ibaraki Doji struck Maudgalyayana, challenged his manipulation, and helped Yang Jian regain his resolve.
  • Yang Jian and Ibaraki Doji joined forces against Maudgalyayana, while Ibaraki warned Yang Jian not to call him a little monster.
  • Black and White Impermanence discussed their remaining opponents as they fought through the monks surrounding them.
  • Mahakasyapa introduced himself to Black and White Impermanence as Great Dark Heaven’s Foremost Ascetic Mendicant.
  • Black Impermanence claimed he would reach Great Luo Golden Immortal when Mahakasyapa fell, and White Impermanence left to find opponents of his own.

Ch. 351The Underworld's Mad Dog

Black Impermanence fought Mahakasyapa and revealed that the monk’s apparent inability to feel pain came from his scars. By targeting an old wound, Black Impermanence made Mahakasyapa feel pain and fear, leaving him backing away as the fight continued.

  • White Impermanence warned Mahakasyapa that Black Impermanence fought like a mad dog, then left.
  • Mahakasyapa rushed Black Impermanence, who wounded him with the sickle on his Soul-Gathering Rope despite appearing to take a claw strike in return.
  • Black Impermanence explained that Mahakasyapa’s scars had masked his ability to feel pain, and Mahakasyapa summoned his pitch-black staff to reveal the true Extreme Darkness.
  • Black Impermanence endured a staff strike to slash Mahakasyapa’s existing wound, making the monk scream and retreat.
  • Black Impermanence declared that Mahakasyapa feared remembering pain, then advanced as Mahakasyapa backed away.

Ch. 352Su Xiaoxiao

Mahakasyapa exposed Black Impermanence’s buried hatred for Zhan Qisheng and used his Buddhist chant to make him relive Su Xiaoxiao’s death. Black Impermanence was left facing Du Yu, whom Mahakasyapa urged him to kill for revenge.

  • After their fight, Mahakasyapa revealed that Black Impermanence still wanted to kill Zhan Qisheng, who existed inside another person’s body.
  • Mahakasyapa chanted a sutra that brought Black Impermanence’s memories of Su Xiaoxiao flooding back.
  • Black Impermanence remembered how Su Xiaoxiao’s soul scattered while the Operator was missing, and how he buried her clothes and cursed Zhan Qisheng’s spirit tablet.
  • Black Impermanence recalled that Zhan Qisheng had returned in a corpse and that he had never found a chance to take revenge.
  • Mahakasyapa pointed Black Impermanence toward Du Yu and urged him to kill him.

Ch. 353First Kill

Black Impermanence resisted Mahakasyapa’s attempt to manipulate him with the Reverse Heart Curse and fought him to the death. After surviving the black Buddha’s explosive destruction, he warned White Impermanence about the spell and the danger posed when a monk’s actual body died.

  • Mahakasyapa urged Black Impermanence to kill Du Yu, claiming Su Xiaoxiao wanted it, but Black Impermanence rejected the deception and attacked him.
  • Mahakasyapa summoned a black Buddha that armored his body and healed his wounds, while Black Impermanence fought on despite his own injuries.
  • Black Impermanence cracked the Buddha’s armor with Three Hun Return to One, then used the Soul-Gathering Rope and Avici Soul-Reaping Killing Array to bind and kill Mahakasyapa.
  • The black Buddha exploded after Mahakasyapa died, blasting Black Impermanence away and leaving him badly wounded.
  • Black Impermanence told Xie Bi'an that the black monks could use the Reverse Heart Curse and that a giant Buddha exploded when its actual body died, then continued surveying the battle.

Ch. 354Friendly fire

Black Impermanence fought the Great Tengu, Myriad Bone Workshop, while A Can and Shiranui Asuka revealed how they had secretly gathered reinforcements for Du Yu. After Asuka recognized the injured Black Impermanence, she ordered the Great Tengu to hold him so she could bandage him.

  • Black Impermanence challenged the black-winged Myriad Bone Workshop, who identified himself as a member of the Myriad Bone Workshop.
  • A Can and Shiranui Asuka realized they had become separated from the others, and A Can explained that Xiao Qi had told him and A Kui to seek help from the Four Sea Dragon Kings.
  • Shiranui Asuka revealed that she had learned Du Yu's plan early and had pretended to fall out with him so she could secretly bring reinforcements from Japan.
  • A Can and Asuka found the Great Tengu fighting Black Impermanence, who had sustained many wounds but remained powerful.
  • Asuka recognized Black Impermanence and ordered the Great Tengu to stop him so she could bandage him, threatening to spank him when he refused.

Ch. 355The Purest Fire

Shiranui Asuka treated the exhausted Black Impermanence before he flew away, then began tending to the Great Tengu. On the western battlefield, Nezha’s Samadhi True Fire burned Aniruddha, who absorbed the flames and healed his wounds, revealing that he could wield the same fire.

  • The Great Tengu restrained Black Impermanence while Shiranui Asuka bandaged and healed him.
  • Black Impermanence thanked Asuka, promised to repay her kindness, and flew away.
  • Asuka turned to bandage the Great Tengu after he protested.
  • Nezha asked the blind monk Aniruddha about his closed eyes, then demonstrated his Samadhi True Fire.
  • Aniruddha let the flames burn his shoulder, absorbed them into his body, and opened his eyes with Samadhi True Fire burning within them.
  • Aniruddha explained that Nezha’s fire could be used against him, then healed his burned shoulder.

Ch. 356The ultimate trend

Nezha rejected Aniruddha’s attempt to recruit him into Extreme Darkness and fought back while protecting Ao Guang. Meanwhile, Horse-Face found himself facing Purna, and Ox-Head arrived with another of the ten great disciples chasing him.

  • Aniruddha offered Nezha power from Great Dark Heaven, but Nezha said he wanted the ultimate “trend” and refused to join.
  • Aniruddha attacked Ao Guang, and Nezha blocked the strike, explaining that Ao Guang’s kindness to him outweighed their supposed legendary feud.
  • Nezha charged Aniruddha with his spear, and Aniruddha blocked the thrust with his prayer beads.
  • Horse-Face struggled to survive against Purna and called for help.
  • Ox-Head arrived, but he revealed that one of the ten great disciples was pursuing him and asked Horse-Face for help.

Ch. 357The Three Treasures of the Underworld

Ox-Head and Horse-Face fled from two monks, and White Impermanence joined them rather than fighting. As the monks caught up, Xie Bi'an triggered a massive explosion around them.

  • Ox-Head ran to Horse-Face for help while a wiry monk pursued him, and Horse-Face realized Ox-Head had no magic treasure.
  • Horse-Face urged Ox-Head to uphold the Underworld Enforcers’ honor, then revealed his plan was for them to run in opposite directions.
  • Horse-Face and Ox-Head fled together, and when they found White Impermanence, he chose to run rather than face the two monks.
  • The monks closed in on the exhausted Ox-Head, and Xie Bi'an silently mouthed “Explode,” setting off a thunderous blast around them.

Ch. 358A clue

Xie Bi'an used hidden spiritual-energy traps to wound the two monks twice, then divided them between himself and Ox-Head and Horse-Face. As She Li Fo attacked, Xie Bi'an realized the monk was weaker than expected and suspected he could uncover the secret behind the monks.

  • Xie Bi'an revealed that he had led the monks into a Landmine Formation, which blasted them apart and left them badly wounded.
  • White Impermanence, Ox-Head, and Horse-Face argued over how to divide the monks, then Ox-Head and Horse-Face chose to fight Fu Lou Na while Xie Bi'an took She Li Fo.
  • Xie Bi'an secretly planted another trap while talking with his brothers, and the resulting explosion wounded both monks again.
  • She Li Fo charged at Xie Bi'an while Ox-Head and Horse-Face blocked Fu Lou Na.
  • Xie Bi'an caught She Li Fo's punch and found it weaker than expected, believing he might be able to kill the monk and uncover the monks' secret.

Ch. 359An Opening

White Impermanence fought Shariputra while probing why the Great Luo Golden Immortal seemed unable to kill him, then used the souls of the battlefield dead to capture him alive. Shariputra revealed that the attackers intended to purge the Immortal Realm and plunge the cosmos into Extreme Darkness, but Xie Bi'an demanded the truth behind the slogans.

  • White Impermanence blocked Shariputra’s attacks and taunted him, then used his Ghost-Crying Club to repel a palm strike.
  • White Impermanence released souls from his sleeve and summoned the battlefield dead with his Soul-Summoning Banner, wrapping Shariputra in it.
  • Shariputra’s fear allowed the souls to gnaw at his flesh, and Xie Bi'an offered to spare him if he answered questions.
  • Shariputra said the attackers would carry out the Immortal Realm Purge, plunge the cosmos into Extreme Darkness, and worship Great Dark Heaven as their ruler.
  • Xie Bi'an dismissed Shariputra’s words as slogans and demanded the real purpose of the attack.

Ch. 360Become a Buddha on the Spot

Xie Bi'an interrogated Shariputra and learned that the strange monks had gained their cultivation by becoming Buddhas on the spot. Shariputra warned that Great Dark Heaven would be unbeatable when he arrived, and Xie Bi'an left him to the ghost souls.

  • Xie Bi'an pressed Shariputra about the invasion, and Shariputra said the monks had followed Great Dark Heaven's orders and that someone above him might be involved in a deal.
  • Xie Bi'an reasoned that the invaders had a reason they could not abandon and suspected Du Yu was their target.
  • Shariputra revealed that the monks had gained their cultivation by offering up suffering and becoming Buddhas on the spot.
  • Xie Bi'an concluded that their instant cultivation made them weaker than their apparent realms suggested, while Shariputra insisted Great Dark Heaven would win once he arrived.
  • Xie Bi'an refused to release Shariputra and let the ghost souls tear him apart before putting away the Soul-Summoning Banner.
