After encountering sea powers and visiting strange eastern nations, they failed to find the Land of the Undying and turned back to seek a quiet place to rest and record their travels.

• Li Ping'an uncovered the Barbarian remains beneath the osmanthus tree, defied the town’s factions, and destroyed the town and tree before stabilizing the Eastern Snowfield.
• Li Ping'an left the snowfield with Old Ox and Kitten, helped a dead boatman move on, and later traveled with an army before leaving to build a boat.
• Li Ping'an and his companions sailed east, ended Zhong Guotao’s fleet’s fight with a True Dragon, and learned about the moving Three-Headed Kingdom.
• Li Ping'an visited the Three-Headed Kingdom on the back of a giant turtle, then confronted the Dragon Lord and made it promise to treat coastal people better.

Li Ping'an helped settle the supernatural crisis in Smoke Continent before leaving with Old Ox and Kitten for the Anbei Four Garrisons. He returned to his old courtyard as war subsided and Liu Yong came home, then received the general as a visitor.

• Li Ping'an confronted the Rat Maiden at the Maiden Temple while Cat Immortal led the cats against the rat demons, and the shrine collapsed as the rats fled.
• Li Ping'an and Tianyuanzi uncovered the possessed Prefect Zhao Huaimin, then Li Ping'an gravely wounded the fleeing Heavenly Demon as cultivators pursued him.
• The Great An Kingdom's officials thanked Li Ping'an for helping stabilize Yan Prefecture, but he declined their invitation to meet the emperor.
• Zhao Ling'er rescued scouts during a Demon Race assault near Demon-Suppressing Pass while Li Ping'an and his companions prepared for the New Year.
• Li Ping'an, Old Ox, and Kitten left Yan Prefecture, and Li Ping'an protected Huang Li's patrol from a sinister mist and heard of the wars against Great Sui.

Li Ping'an left Small Town to visit Demon-Suppressing Pass, settling old ties and confronting the consequences of disorder along the way. He reached the pass as a major Demon Race assault began, and Qianlong greeted him after he fought his way back.

• Li Ping'an reunited with Liu Yong, learned that the Demon Race was attacking Demon-Suppressing Pass, and later entered seclusion before returning to Small Town.
• After hearing that the pass still held, Li Ping'an set out north with Old Ox and Kitten, met Emperor Yiha and the Crown Prince, and briefly reunited with Zhou Youcai before his death and reincarnation.
• Li Ping'an confronted the Turtle God over the flooding of six counties, reclaimed the Snake Gallstone, and appointed the reluctant Third Young Master as the new Sea God.
• At Jingmen Mountain, Li Ping'an boarded a Flying Boat and faced Liu Wuxin, who questioned his killing of Liu Rushi before leaving to seek justice in his own way.
• Li Ping'an reached Demon-Suppressing Pass, helped capture spies, and met a young cultivator who had fought the demons, when the army attacked, the youth joined the battle.
• Li Ping'an, Kitten, and Old Ox entered the battlefield, where Li Ping'an searched for Extraterrestrial Demons, fought through the Demon Army, and struck the Red Demon Ghost before returning to the pass.
• Qianlong recognized Li Ping'an and thanked him for capturing the spies, while Li Ping'an said he did not know how long he would stay.

Li Ping'an reopened the Faraway Inn and welcomed new companions as the war at Demon-Suppressing Pass escalated after Yang Jianbai’s betrayal. With Qing Xuan lost in the River of Destiny, Kong Yang entrusted Li Ping'an with moving the pass toward Cloud Province while the defenders fought to buy him time.

• Li Ping'an, Kitten, and Old Ox reopened the former inn as the Faraway Inn, where Zhou Wu became a regular challenger and Zhang Ningyuan his disciple.
• Qin Shi and Chi Ling arrived at the inn after running up a meal debt, and Qin Shi later joined the defenders at Demon-Suppressing Pass.
• Yang Jianbai betrayed humanity, and Qin Yuan’s assault killed Qianlong and Zheng Changwen and left Zhao Ling'er gravely wounded.
• Li Ping'an took over the southeastern battlefield and held it alone while armies and cultivators from across the Nine Provinces gathered to defend the pass.
• The Demon Race launched a massive assault, and Qing Xuan fought the Demon Ancestor before entering the River of Destiny, where an Extraterrestrial Demon trapped him.
• As the human defenses crumbled, Qing Xuan’s avatar moved Demon-Suppressing Pass more than three thousand li toward Cloud Province and named Kong Yang his successor.
• Yu Er destroyed falling mountains with his life, and Li Ping'an broke through the demons and steadied the pass with Kong Yang.
• Kong Yang transferred the City Lord’s power to Li Ping'an, then led the human cultivators into battle to give Li Ping'an time to move the pass.
