Tang Yan watched everyone hurriedly scatter for cover, but he was in no hurry to act.
The Spirit Realm had prompted them to hide in a suitable building to have a chance of escaping disaster. It seemed buildings were the key to hiding.
They still had no grasp of how the evil entities operated. Whether they got caught was entirely down to luck.
Having thought this through, Tang Yan said, "Let's find somewhere to hide first. We can adjust as things develop!"
With that, he took the lead and entered the restaurant beside them.
The restaurant was brightly lit, but there was not a soul inside.
The two checked the kitchen but found nowhere suitable to hide.
"Let's try the storeroom. I remember there being a few cabinets," Heavenly Enchantress suggested.
Tang Yan nodded. They went to the rear courtyard and pulled open the storeroom door. Several dark shapes immediately toppled toward them.
Tang Yan and Heavenly Enchantress quickly retreated two steps, then their hearts clenched.
What fell to the ground were none other than the corpses of the restaurant's shopkeeper, servers, and several diners!
They must have suffered a terrible fright before dying. Even though their bodies had long gone cold, their faces were still filled with horror.
"Let's try somewhere else!" Seeing the dozen or so dead people, Tang Yan shut the door.
"All right!" Heavenly Enchantress also found it ill-omened and followed Tang Yan toward the inn next door.
The inn's server and shopkeeper were dead as well. After inspecting the guest rooms, the two found corpses there too, all horribly mutilated, their internal organs missing from their bellies.
"Could the empty guest rooms be safe?" Heavenly Enchantress asked curiously.
"Doesn't seem like it. Let's try somewhere else." Tang Yan took Heavenly Enchantress to the pastry shop
