"Watch out!"
Before Lan Die'er could finish, the Crimson Flame Wyrm had turned into a streak of crimson lightning, hurtling straight at Lu Changfeng's face on a scorching gust. It moved far faster than any of the venomous creatures before it, leaving only a faint scorch mark in the air.
Lu Changfeng's pupils contracted slightly. His footwork shifted rapidly, and he drifted backward like willow fluff, evading the ferocious strike by a hair's breadth. Yet when the Crimson Flame Wyrm missed, it twisted eerily in midair without needing anything to push off from, then became a crimson blur and attacked again, jaws open. Before its fangs reached him, the searing breath of its fiery venom had already struck his face.
Lu Changfeng twisted and dodged, pushing his movement technique to its limit and leaving trails of afterimages within a tiny patch of ground.
But the Crimson Flame Wyrm clung to him like a maggot burrowing into bone, becoming crimson lightning as it lunged and snapped at him again and again. The fiery venom radiating from its body warped the air with heat, and any grass or plants it touched on the ground instantly charred.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!
Lu Changfeng flicked his hand back and fired several Huayang Needles. They whistled through the air, aimed straight at the Crimson Flame Wyrm's vital point seven inches below its head, its eyes, and other vulnerable spots.
Yet the slender serpent's scales were extraordinarily hard. The Huayang Needles struck them with the clang of metal, scattering sparks before bouncing away, unable to penetrate even an inch. Its speed was ghostly, too, and it evaded most of his attacks by the narrowest of margins.
"Sir!"
Seeing this, Qing Dai grew frantic. She shook out her flexible sword and was about to rush forward to help.
