Ji Xian saved Lu Changfeng from the bone-eroding soul-consuming gu with Qilin blood, then allowed Bai Qianqian to visit him while she mobilized Southern Mo against the Sun-Eater Alliance. Scouts later traced Sun Demon Ji Ming to the western border, and Ji Xian and Lu Changfeng prepared to pursue him.
Lu Changfeng and Ji Xian tracked down Ji Ming and fought him in the Western Border. They killed the Sun-Eater Alliance demon, leaving two of the Four Demons dead.
After avenging Ji Ming, Lu Changfeng left Ji Xian and returned from Hongfang to Dragon-Slaying City with Bai Qianqian, then set out for Chang'an. In Chang'an, Li Lingyue learned he was safe and on his way home, but also that he was returning with another beauty.
Lu Changfeng returned to Chang'an with Bai Qianqian, reunited with Luo Qingge, and learned that Li Lingyue was pregnant with his child. Luo Qingge accepted Bai Qianqian and urged him to visit Li Lingyue while she went to welcome Bai herself.
Lu Changfeng returned to the Princess of Zhen Guo's Residence after six months away and reunited with the pregnant Li Lingyue, reassuring her that he cared for her and their child. He gave her a Deathless Elixir to take after the birth and promised to handle the political threats while she focused on her pregnancy.
Li Changfeng resolved the court’s accumulated military and administrative matters while Li Lingyue resumed leadership at the Princess’s Residence. After receiving a warning that the Heart Demon had come, Lu Changfeng ordered surveillance of key passes, while a mysterious figure approached Li Longji and offered help against their common enemy.
Lu Changfeng warned Luo Qingge and Bai Qianqian that the Seventh Realm Heart Demon Yu Zhou had reached the Central Lands and could manipulate others to destroy what Lu treasured. He ordered the women to take refuge at the Princess's Residence while he moved to find Yu Zhou before the demon could put his schemes into motion.
Lu Changfeng brought Luo Qingge and Bai Qianqian to the Princess's Residence and worried that their presence would spark a conflict with Li Lingyue while he prepared to face the Heart Demon. On Mount Hua, Yu Zhou gathered seven powerful martial figures and declared that they had assembled to eliminate a traitor to the realm.
Heart Demon Yu Zhou used the Deathless Elixir and his power from Hongfang to control seven Jianghu masters, then recruited Li Longji to help eliminate Lu Changfeng. At the Princess's Residence, Li Lingyue and Lu Changfeng learned that the emperor had urgently summoned her to the palace, confirming that their enemies had made a move.
Li Lingyue entered Taiji Palace, where Li Longji and seven peak Fifth Realm masters had prepared to capture her. After confronting him over his betrayal of Lu Changfeng and his seizure of the Imperial Seal, she chose to resist, and Li Longji prepared to attack.
Lu Changfeng revealed himself at Taiji Palace and defeated Li Longji and seven fifth-realm masters with one strike of Delusion-Cutting. The Heart Demon, Yu Zhou, arrived and offered him a place in the Sun-Eater Alliance, but Lu Changfeng challenged him to fight.
Lu Changfeng fought the Seventh Realm Heart Demon Yu Zhou, but Yu Zhou overwhelmed him with Qiongqi’s speed and mind-attacking abilities before landing a seemingly fatal blow. Lu Changfeng’s elixirs then began restoring him and driving his strength toward the Seventh Realm, leaving Yu Zhou stunned.
Lu Changfeng’s repeated near-deaths drove him to the threshold of the seventh realm as Yu Zhou’s attacks grew more desperate. With Bai Qianqian’s intervention buying him a moment, Lu Changfeng transformed into a Mysterious Crane Dharma Form and launched a powerful strike at Yu Zhou.
Lu Changfeng defeated the Heart Demon Yu Zhou in a battle outside Chang'an City by dissolving his Dharma Form with Great Void Finger and suppressing him with the Heavenly Cycle Star-Dipper Formation. He left the city’s residents and his allies looking up at him as a victorious hero.
Lu Changfeng defeated Li Longji and returned to the Princess's Residence, while the Sun-Eater Alliance discussed how to kill him. On Jade Void Peak, He Chen uncovered and claimed the Kunlun Sword, a powerful Divine Artifact.
He Chen used the Kunlun Sword to forge invulnerable soldiers and led the Göktürks south to attack Shengzhou. As Elm Grove City fell under assault, Xue Ne sent an urgent dispatch asking Lu Changfeng to come, while Lu sensed a strange presence in the north.
After Li Lingyue consolidated her rule in Chang'an, an urgent dispatch reported that the Göktürks had overrun Elm Grove City with seemingly invulnerable fighters connected to the Kunlun Ruins and possibly the Kunlun Sword. Lu Changfeng decided to travel north to confront the threat himself while Li Lingyue stayed to steady the court and await the imminent abdication.
Lu Changfeng reached Elm Grove City and used the Great Void Finger to strip the monsters of the Great Ruins Power that made them impervious, saving the besieged Tang Army and reuniting with Wang Jingxian. As the survivors celebrated, He Chen watched from the Göktürks' camp, and the Kunlun Sword cried out in response to Lu Changfeng.
Lu Changfeng called the Kunlun Sword to him, but He Chen used Bi'an’s power and the Mountain Tribulation to suppress it. The two prepared to fight across the Northern Frontier as Lu Changfeng vowed to reclaim the sword.
Lu Changfeng used his perfected heavenly sword body to overcome He Chen’s techniques and wound the Northern Desert Martial Venerable while freeing the Kunlun Sword halfway from his grasp. He advanced on He Chen, determined to take the divine sword back.
Lu Changfeng called the Kunlun Sword back from He Chen, breaking the Northern Desert Martial Venerable’s attempt to detonate its power. Reunited with the sword, Lu Changfeng overwhelmed the battlefield as the Tang soldiers bowed to him, while He Chen faced his final defeat.
Lu Changfeng killed He Chen with the Kunlun Sword, saving Elm Grove and breaking the Göktürk siege. After the victory feast, he studied the sword and discovered a vision suggesting the Kunlun Ruins had split into three, with one part in the Featherfolk Kingdom.
Ji Wuji seized the Featherfolk Kingdom’s ancient artifact and learned that Lu Changfeng had glimpsed the secret of the Kunlun Ruins, while Ji Xian warned Lu Changfeng of the Sun-Eater Alliance’s assault. In Elm Grove, Lu Changfeng healed Wang Jingxian’s wound, and she confessed her feelings before kissing him.
Lu Changfeng brought Wang Jingxian back to Chang'an after the Northern Frontier victory, where Li Lingyue took control of the court and appointed him to the highest civil and military offices. A secret letter from Ji Xian then revealed that Ji Wuji had attacked the Three Upper Kingdoms, prompting Lu Changfeng to prepare to return to Hongfang.
Lu Changfeng helped Li Lingyue break through to the sixth realm, then prepared to travel to the Eastern Sea to investigate the Kunlun Ruins and the Kunlun Sword. He departed from Chang'an on Lingbo, leaving Li Lingyue and the others behind.
