Zhou Ping's heart gave a slight jolt, thoughts flashing through his mind.
What should he say? What excuse should he find?
Or did this difficult immortal master have some other means at her disposal?
Surely putting him in his place wasn't all this immortal master could do?
"Uncle Zhou..." Zhou Ping had only just gotten the two words out when he heard a thud!
Immediately afterward, he saw Uncle Zhou close his eyes and fall straight backward.
But halfway down, he rose upright again in a bizarre fashion, like a corpse suddenly springing to life.
At this sight, Zhou Ping's heart pounded. Could someone spring to life like a corpse without even being dead?
What... the hell was this?
Zhou Ping forced himself not to cry out. Watching Uncle Zhou look like a walking corpse, he had no idea whether something had happened to the man or the immortal master in his basket had made a move.
"Go over to the wall he came from," Chen Baiqing's voice sounded softly.
Hearing her voice, Zhou Ping hurriedly breathed a sigh of relief and began playing along.
"Uncle Zhou, tired? Honestly, staying up this late instead of sleeping. Let me help you over there for a little while."
As he spoke, Zhou Ping made a show of supporting the middle-aged man as they walked toward the shadows he had emerged from.
The middle-aged man nodded in a rather freakish fashion, and his movements as he walked were rather absurd, giving him quite the air of a puppet on strings.
Seeing this, Zhou Ping immediately felt that immortals' immortal techniques really did have something to them.
After the middle-aged man sat down against the wall, Zhou Ping heard Chen Baiqing's clear, cool voice.
"Keep going to the ancestral hall."
Zhou Ping nodded repeatedly.
