"Sister Ying's Chameleon martial soul is really incredible! She can even make others invisible. If my spiritual power hadn't reached Soul Douluo level and I hadn't absorbed the Spirit Condensing Wisdom Skull, I truly wouldn't have sensed her presence!"
Having watched Sister Ying disappear so many times, Li Fei still sighed in amazement. Qian Renxue had already arrived at the palace. In a few days, Xue Qinghe would likely die, and Qian Renxue would begin her life as an undercover agent.
Looking at the recommendation letter in his hand, Li Fei headed toward Heaven Dou Royal Academy. It was currently the academy's enrollment period, and he soon arrived at its entrance.
Quite a few lavishly dressed people were already lined up outside the academy gates. Li Fei quietly joined the back of the line, keeping a low profile.
Soon, it was Li Fei's turn to be tested. He glanced at the soul power testing crystal, placed his hand on it, and poured in his soul power until it stopped at level twenty-nine.
"Gods! Soul power level twenty-nine? How old is he?"
"How did this guy even cultivate?!"
"Which family is he from?!"
The surrounding students cried out in shock, all staring at Li Fei in disbelief. Among so many of them, the highest soul power level had only been twenty-three.
Li Fei ignored them. He had deliberately revealed level twenty-nine soul power. Only geniuses would qualify to be recruited by Xue Qinghe after graduation.
"Go in! Elite Class One, Dormitory Building Three, Room 301!"
After handing over his recommendation letter, the teacher carefully read its contents, then wrote out a certificate and handed it to Li Fei.
With the certificate in hand, Li Fei walked down the main road of Heaven Dou Royal Academy, taking in the surroundings. It truly deserved to be called an imperial academy. Its environment was even more beautiful than Spirit Academy's. Handsome men and beautiful women were everywhere, conversing with elegant manners, while quite a few students gathered around certain individuals.
Li Fei soon found Dormitory Building Three and arrived at Room 301, pushing the door open and walking inside.
The dorm had two bedrooms and a living room, all lavishly furnished. Various expensive pieces of furniture had been arranged just right. With a casual glance, he could tell that his roommate had not arrived yet.
Finding the bedroom marked with his name, Li Fei went in. He took out the bedding his mother had prepared from his Storage Bracelet and spread it over the bed, put his spare clothes into the wardrobe, then lay down and happily pulled out a book to read.
The book was titled Strange Records of Immortal Herbs. It recorded knowledge about all kinds of immortal herbs. While it was not as comprehensive as the Tang Sect's records, it covered nearly everything, merely lacking some methods of use.
Li Fei had not forgotten that Sunset Forest lay beside Heaven Dou City, and the immortal herbs within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well were still waiting for him! He also knew how Tang San had cured the old poisoner in the original story. Trading for a few immortal herbs then should not be a problem, right?
Dugu Bo truly possessed a treasure mountain without recognizing its value. For so many years, he had never looked for information on the various plants within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. No wonder his poisoning had remained unresolved for so long.
Squeak!
The sound of the living room door opening came from outside. Immediately afterward, Li Fei heard a knock on his door and hurriedly put the book back into his Storage Bracelet.
"Come in!"
As soon as he spoke, a man walked in. He had a tall, straight build, short hair standing upright strand by strand, and a somewhat square face carrying an aura of killing intent and iron-blooded resolve. He arrogantly said to Li Fei,
"This young master is Ge Liang, son of Ge Long, the Imperial Marshal. I'm twelve this year. My martial soul is Yazi, and I'm a level twenty-three assault-type battle soul master. What's your name?!"
He really was direct. He had the bearing of a soldier—no beating around the bush.
But Spirit Hall truly was impressive. They must have people within Heaven Dou Royal Academy as well. They had directly assigned the Imperial Marshal's son to the same dorm as me. Is this so I can gain control over part of Heaven Dou's military power in the future?!
"My name is Li Fei. I'm the son of a fallen noble from the borderlands. I'm twelve this year. My martial soul is my body, and I'm a level twenty-nine assault-type battle soul master!"
After sighing inwardly, Li Fei rose from the bed and walked over to Ge Liang. Calmly extending his hand, he smiled.
"Just for that attitude, I'm definitely making you my friend!"
Ge Liang shook his hand and looked at Li Fei in surprise. It was not only because Li Fei was far stronger than him, but also because Li Fei remained neither servile nor overbearing before him. He was completely different from everyone else, who immediately flattered him upon seeing him.
"You're not as arrogant and overbearing as other nobles either. I've decided to make you my friend too!" Li Fei replied in the same tone.
"Haha!" Ge Liang laughed twice, stepped forward, and threw an arm around Li Fei's shoulders. "Come on, this young master will treat you to a meal!"
"You'd better not. I eat quite a lot, and I'm afraid you won't be able to handle it." Li Fei did not dislike the gesture. His close friends in his previous life had been like this too. But thinking of his terrifying appetite, he kindly warned him.
"This young master grew up in the military. When it comes to eating, I've never feared anyone. I refuse to believe you can eat more than I can!" Ge Liang thumped his chest loudly and declared arrogantly, "If you don't believe me, let's compete!"
"Then I'll gladly accept!"
Since he had put it that way, Li Fei naturally had to agree. He only had a five-million-gold card prepared by his mother in his Storage Bracelet, and he had no idea how many years he would be living here. It would be difficult to replenish his funds later, so saving one meal was one meal saved.
Inside the Heaven Dou Royal Academy cafeteria.
The surrounding students continually pointed at Li Fei and Ge Liang in the middle of the room. Yet the two ignored everyone around them, stuffing all sorts of food into their mouths while staring each other down.
"I should've listened to your warning!"
An hour later, Ge Liang had reached his limit and could not eat another bite. Watching Li Fei devour chicken legs one at a time without even spitting out the bones, he could not help touching his wallet. He had no idea how much he would have to pay this time. It would not empty his funds in one go, but he would definitely have to live frugally afterward.
"Eating until you're eighty percent full is enough. Eating too much isn't good for your health."
Another hour later, two mountain-like piles of plates stood on the table. Li Fei patted his slightly bloated stomach and spoke casually.
"Li Fei, your martial soul isn't your body—it's Taotie, right?!"
Hearing that, Ge Liang's mouth twitched. After eating so much, he was only seventy percent full. Ge Liang could not help complaining.
"How could that be? It's just that, in order to cultivate faster back then, I chose a Gluttony Pig for my First Spirit Ring. That's why I eat a little more than usual!" Li Fei made a small gesture with his right hand and explained with a smile.
In truth, Li Fei's current appetite was not entirely due to the Gluttony passive soul skill. The tempering of his six hollow organs by Five Elements Soul Power was also responsible. The Five Elements corresponded not only to the five solid organs, but also the six hollow organs, causing his digestive ability to improve by leaps and bounds. Even hard bones could be digested quickly.
"All right! I'll go pay the bill!" Naturally, Ge Liang understood the soul skills of a Gluttony Pig. Resigned to his fate, he headed for the cashier.
Blood Essence will appear soon. Should the Blood Essence Soul Ring still be condensed?! Leave your thoughts in the comments!
