Xiao Yan overwhelmed and killed him, then plundered his Thousand Transformations System. The encounter made him suspect that other Otherworlders might also be altering the story 1 2.

Nalan Yanran’s visit further disrupted his expectations. Rather than seeking to end their engagement, she wanted to marry him. Xiao Yan mistook her changed behavior for evidence of transmigration; she was actually reborn from the future 3 5.

Determined to preserve the Three-Year Agreement, he presented his prepared repudiation letter and challenged the Misty Cloud Sect. He accepted Nalan Yanran’s revised wager: victory would allow him to reject the marriage, while defeat would require him to marry into the Nalan Family 3 5 12.

Apprenticeship under the Medicine Emperor

After the engagement dispute, Xiao Yan poured almost all his Dou Qi into his inherited ring. Its occupant proved to be the ancient Medicine Emperor, whose soul had merged with Yao Chen’s. Recognizing Xiao Yan as the Xiao Emperor’s descendant, the Medicine Emperor accepted him as a disciple 7.

Xiao Yan chose the Flame Mantra and received the Ninefold Thunderfire Palm and Crimson Dragon Divine Mark. His master also prescribed training in body, soul, Dou Qi, and alchemy, although the provided chapters do not establish mastery of the proposed body-refining art or an alchemist rank 8 17.

Building the Lin Dong identity

When Xun’er supplied the exact ingredients associated with the original storyline, Xiao Yan suspected that she or Ling Ying possessed outside knowledge. He accepted the gift and requested Foundation Establishment Spirit Liquid to maintain the appearance of following the expected plot, then obtained his actual supplies separately 13 14.

Using the name Lin Dong of the Dao Sect, he acquired fire-attribute ingredients from the Mittel Auction House. When Wutan City’s Three Great Families confronted him, he injured the assembled cultivators—including his own father—with Dou Qi pressure. He withdrew after the Medicine Emperor warned that Ling Ying was returning and remained stronger than him 15.

After unlocking transformation, Xiao Yan deliberately attacked the Xiao Clan elders under his alternate identity to conceal any connection between Lin Dong and himself. He then traded enhanced Foundation Establishment Spirit Liquid to the Mittel Family and invented a secluded sect, an injured elder, and a fugitive traitor to secure Mittel Tengshan’s cooperation against Jia Lie Ao 21 23 24 32.

Chat-group theft and Jia Lie Ao’s defeat

With the Medicine Emperor’s help, Xiao Yan rendered Ling Ying unconscious and plundered his recent memories and Myriad Worlds Chat Group membership. He retained information about the group and other worlds, returned the remaining memories, and began impersonating Ling Ying. He could not seize the group itself because its owner was in another world 30.

Jia Lie Ao’s mind-reading attempts threatened Xiao Yan’s cover. Xiao Yan obtained the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique from Naruto so that “Xiao Yan” and “Lin Dong” could appear together. The simultaneous appearance successfully dispelled Jia Lie Ao’s suspicion 33 34 35 36.

Xiao Yan and Mittel Tengshan later ambushed the departing Jia Lie Family near Qingshan Town. After Jia Lie Ao’s Vermilion Bird Divine Flame overwhelmed Tengshan, Xiao Yan activated his divine mark and killed Jia Lie Ao with Ninefold Thunderfire Palm. He plundered the defeated transmigrator’s constitution, flame, and system, then returned to Wutan City to fuse them 37 39 40 41.

Magical Beast Mountain Range

A scouting Shadow Clone witnessed the Amethyst Winged Lion King conquering the mountain range and suspected that the beast was another Otherworlder. Xiao Yan eventually left Wutan City as Li Feiyu, leaving clones of both his ordinary identity and Lin Dong behind 42 44.

He discovered that the Lion King had captured Xiao Yi Xian and emptied the cave containing his anticipated treasures, including the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Fragment Map. Xiao Yan dispatched more than a thousand Shadow Clones to demand their return and used the spectacle to spread the Dao Sect’s reputation among the Wolf Head Mercenary Group 46 47.

By the time his rescuers returned with Xiao Yi Xian and the treasures, Xiao Yan had learned that the Lion King had reached Dou Zong. Rather than immediately confronting it again, he planned to investigate its hidden capabilities and infiltrate its ranks 50.

Xiao Yan prioritizes caution, secrecy, and long-term survival. Even with overwhelming strength by local standards, he initially tolerates humiliation to preserve the original plot. Otherworlders make him increasingly suspicious: he conceals his knowledge, tests unusual behavior, and investigates even his master before fully trusting him 2 8 13 44.

He is also calculating and vindictive. Alternate identities let him retaliate against the Xiao Clan elders without compromising his ordinary persona, while fabricated sect stories help him recruit allies and manipulate enemies. Against Jia Lie Ao, he takes a hostage and plunders everything useful after winning 21 24 32 37 40.

His caution does not prevent ambition or confidence. He chooses the Flame Mantra for its long-term potential and insists on fighting Jia Lie Ao himself despite having the Medicine Emperor available as a safeguard. He nevertheless rejects his master’s slaughter-centered philosophy, arguing that cautious survival better suits the present age 8 40 45.
