Just as he was about to get up and help her, Wendy rushed over. A moment later, her delicate body, carrying a faint chill, lay down snugly against him.

Eros gently patted Wendy's back and soothed her in a quiet voice:

"It's all right, it's all right. I'm here, so don't be scared! Let's see what horror dares come near you."

This had happened quite a few times before. After all, Wendy had been exposed to the supernatural for some time now.

Though the timing of the horrors' encroachment was unpredictable, it always happened once or twice a month.

In the past, whenever this happened, Wendy would spend the night in the Shadow Realm.

But after discovering that staying beside him also protected her from the horrors' encroachment, she stopped going to the Shadow Realm.

Wendy nestled against Eros and murmured, "Mm."

Her voice was soft and delicate. Nothing about her now resembled the little wildcat she was during the day.

Looking at Wendy, who now seemed like a tiny kitten, Eros reached out to stroke her head and said gently:

"Go to sleep. Everything's all right."

Wendy blinked her beautiful, wide eyes, then reached out and ruffled Eros's hair, sounding a little disgruntled:

"I'm the older sister."

Eros didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Feeling the delicate body beside him settle down, he replied indulgently:

"All right, all right! You're the older sister."

At the same time, he cheered inwardly, Tentacle Big Brother, you're amazing! It worked instantly.

Wendy gave a little huff and nuzzled closer, then closed her eyes without another word.

Early the next morning, a groggy Wendy slowly opened her beautiful eyes, as clear as crystal.

She rubbed her eyes, then nudged Eros, whose leg had somehow ended up draped over her.

Her voice was soft, still tinged with sleepiness. "Get up. It's time to get up."

Eros didn't even open his eyes. He gave an unconscious murmur before answering in a muffled voice:

"Let me sleep a little longer. I'm dead tired."

While Eros and Barbara had sparred in the soul world the previous night, Barbara had abandoned her usual approach of defending without attacking. Instead, she had struck again and again, beating him until he cried out repeatedly.

Only after his soul was so exhausted that he truly couldn't take any more did Barbara explain:

"When you face an enemy in the future, they won't just defend without attacking. This is to help you adjust to real combat more quickly."

That was what she said, but although he didn't know why, Eros had a nagging suspicion that she simply wanted to beat him up.

So he really was terribly sleepy now. Exhaustion of the soul was much harder to recover from than physical exhaustion.

Wendy, however, knew nothing of this. She felt Eros's leg draped over her.

A blush spread across the pretty girl's face, and she snapped:

"If you don't get up, I'll kick you out of bed. Just try me."

Eros mumbled a couple of times in his sleep, showing no intention of getting up.

Wendy took a deep breath and stopped hesitating. With a thrust of her long, lovely leg, she kicked Eros off the bed.

The pain of hitting the floor immediately brought Eros a little closer to wakefulness.

Still dazed and unsure what had happened, he looked toward the bed in bewilderment.

The early morning sunlight fell across the skin exposed by Wendy's disheveled nightdress, its whiteness almost dazzling.
