After several days of travel, the three finally passed through a hidden tunnel and emerged into an enormous cavern.
This cavern was several times larger than the one housing the Mind Flayer Hive. Its ceiling soared into the darkness, with natural stalactite columns nearly a thousand feet tall connecting it to the ground like pillars holding up the sky.
Sharp, thornlike stalagmites filled the surroundings, while smooth, artificially carved stone roads wound between them like strands of spider silk.
Not far ahead stood a Drow city, awash in purple, blue, and dark red faerie fire that glowed like neon lights.
Although Renato had never seen old Rolling Stone City before the Great Earthquake, the grandeur of this vast elven city called Sammoril far exceeded anything he had imagined a city in the world of Ereel could be.
The towering walls, white as marble, were covered in carved spiders and web patterns. Every spider was lifelike, every web intricate and precise.
Countless layers of magic enveloped the city, their spell auras overlapping across its walls. Some were so openly malicious and powerful that Renato could sense them clearly even from hundreds of meters away.
The city was shaped like an arrowhead, its terrain rising gradually from south to north. By the light of various magical illuminations, Renato could make out countless buildings of distinctive artistic styles. Spires, estates, academies... all stood packed together.
This was a vast underground city. According to Tristana, its population exceeded a hundred and fifty thousand, twenty thousand of whom were pure-blooded Drow.
Yet despite its exquisite, almost artistic beauty, Renato found the city inexplicably sinister and terrifying...
As though he had fallen into a spider's web.
The reason they had come here, however, was simple enough.
There was no point in discussing it-Renato had no map
