According to Tristana, the young cleric would take Renato to reclaim control of the family's businesses in the city tomorrow.
So Renato did not rest for long. In fact, he now needed only four hours of meditation to recover his energy.
Staying put and letting others control him was not his style. After readying his weapons, Renato locked the door with the Magic Key and headed out into the fortress grounds.
He did not seek out the commoner warriors nearby, much less approach the churchlike spire. Instead, he walked toward the servants carrying goods back and forth.
Renato was not a drow, let alone a noble, and he held no prejudice against these supposedly "lowly" people. Besides, judging from the original owner's experiences, these servants would actually make it easier to gather information and get a clear picture of his current situation.
After forcibly stopping several half-drow servants and questioning them one by one, Renato learned where the newly arrived mind flayer was staying.
He rewarded a servant with a gold coin, then walked toward a secluded workshop in a corner of the fortress amid the servant's profuse thanks.
It seemed Klauthsura was quite skilled at negotiation, too. Renato had been planning to find a way to get the mind flayer out, but to his surprise, Klauthsura had already secured a place to stay within the Nightwind Family's compound.
At Renato's pace, he soon reached the small workshop. Its outer walls were built from gray-black stone, and an elongated chimney rose from its roof.
But a drow warrior standing outside the door raised a hand to bar his way.
"No entry here... Wait, I don't think I've seen you before..."
Judging by his height, the warrior was probably quite young.
The young drow warrior before him gripped his sword hilt.
