Ch. 1421The test

After a year as regent, Youlun Xifeng worried that the Abyssal invasion had lasted longer than expected despite his parents’ assurances that it would soon end. A bloodied knight arrived at the palace and reported that the king and queen had been killed in battle, leaving Youlun to demand details.

  • Youlun Xifeng governed as regent while ministers and nobles reconsidered their opinions of him.
  • Youlun reflected on the strength of the Prime Material World and wondered why his parents had not returned from the campaign against the Abyss.
  • Youlun reread a letter from the king and queen saying the allied forces would soon retake Green Harbor and that they would make him king upon their return.
  • A piercing alarm sounded, and a bloodied knight entered the palace and reported that the king and queen had been killed in battle.
  • Youlun suppressed his shock and asked the knight to explain what had happened.

Ch. 1422The Crown Prince Led the Campaign

After learning that the Demon God of Slaughter had devastated the allied armies and killed his parents, Youlun took charge of the Kingdom of Randy’s response to the advancing demons. He summoned Archbishop Tulat and Mosa, then announced that he would lead the Champion Knight Order to the Hast Duchy to fight the demons and avenge his parents.

  • A bloodstained knight told Youlun that Kailunse, the Demon God of Slaughter, had crushed the allied forces, destroyed the Gate of Anno, and killed the king and queen.
  • The knight reported that Annora had fallen and that the demons were expected to attack the Hast Duchy next, threatening the neighboring Kingdom of Randy.
  • Youlun silenced the panicking nobles and declared that killing Kailunse’s avatar was the key to defeating the invasion.
  • Youlun ordered Lord Moloser to summon Archbishop Tulat and Mosa to the palace.
  • Youlun asked Mosa to guard the royal capital while he led the Champion Knight Order to the Hast Duchy to slay demons and avenge his parents.

Ch. 1423Peerless in battle

Youlun insisted on joining the war against the Abyss, and he proved his combat skill by defeating Legendary Knight Mosa in a duel. He secured Mosa’s promise to guard the capital and asked Tulat to lend him the ancient armor and sword of Luoseda before he headed west.

  • Mosa tried to stop Youlun from going to war, warning that the kingdom needed its only crown prince to survive and rule.
  • Youlun revealed that he had reached the peak of the Hero Tier and challenged Mosa to prove he could fight a Legendary.
  • After an hour-long duel, Youlun defeated Mosa by anticipating and countering his attacks with exceptional combat techniques.
  • Mosa accepted Youlun’s strength and agreed to protect the royal capital, but Youlun refused to delay his departure until after his coronation.
  • Youlun asked Tulat to lend him Luoseda’s ancient armor and treasured sword so he could use their divine power against the Demon God’s incarnation.

Ch. 1424I refuse to be a serf

Youlun Xifeng secured sacred relics and led an army toward the Hast Duchy to fight the Abyss Demon army. Outside Hast Fortress, his decision to enter the city without helping the refugees stirred a serf boy’s defiance and awakened a mysterious power within him.

  • Archbishop Tulat warned Youlun that the Greater God’s armor and longsword were nearly indestructible relics, not weapons capable of easily withstanding a Demon God, but Youlun took them anyway.
  • Youlun led his army from Lantbless, telling Mosa and Tulat to take the kingdom’s people east if he failed to return.
  • At Bolo Fortress, Youlun killed the noble commanders who refused his orders in single combat and won the obedience of their regiments.
  • Youlun arrived at Hast Fortress with three thousand knights and found hundreds of thousands of starving refugees outside its walls.
  • After Youlun entered the city without aiding the refugees, a serf boy resented the inequality and heard a voice proclaim that someone from among the common people would change the world.

Ch. 1425The Demon God and the Angels

Youlun joined the defense of Hast Fortress as the Abyss Demon army approached, learning that an Archon Angel warband would arrive to face Kailunse. As the Demon God’s avatar and the Angel warband appeared above the battlefield, commander Aoweiliya declared her intent to vanquish him.

  • Marquis Lain welcomed Youlun to Hast Fortress and told him the Demon army had reached the Silver Flower River, a day away.
  • Youlun joined the coalition council, where Aurika explained that an Archon Angel warband would arrive to help fight Kailunse.
  • The next day, Youlun and the defenders saw the Abyss Demon army advance on Hast Fortress, led by the avatar of Kailunse.
  • A rift opened in the sky, and Aoweiliya led a golden-armored Archon Angel warband down to the battlefield.
  • Aoweiliya announced that she had come to vanquish the Demon.

Ch. 1426Golden-Winged Angel

Aoweiliya and her angels arrived at Hast Fortress and attacked Kailunse’s demon army, prompting Emperor Sero to launch the allied forces into battle. As Youlun saw Aoweiliya nearing defeat, he decided to leave the Kingdom Knights and help her.

  • Aurika told Youlun that Aoweiliya was a renowned Golden-Winged Angel and speculated that Emperor Sero had invited her to challenge the influence of the six Greater Gods’ churches.
  • Aoweiliya led her angels in a charge against the demon army and attacked Kailunse’s avatar.
  • Emperor Sero ordered the continental allied army to leave Hast Fortress and join the battle.
  • Youlun led three thousand Kingdom Knights into the fighting while watching Aoweiliya’s duel with Kailunse.
  • Youlun realized Aoweiliya would soon be defeated, told Lord Mozi to command the Kingdom Knights, and went to help her.

Ch. 1427Taking action

Youlun charged alone toward the Demon God's avatar as Mozi led the Kingdom's knights to support him. After Aoweiliya badly wounded the avatar, it counterattacked and left her falling from the sky, but a white-lit figure deflected the killing blow and caught her.

  • Mozi obeyed Youlun's command and led the Kingdom's knights along the demon army's flanks while Youlun charged toward the battlefield's center.
  • Aoweiliya attacked the Demon God's avatar with her golden spear and blasted it back nearly a thousand meters, prompting cheers from the allied forces.
  • The Demon God's avatar struck Aoweiliya with its black-and-red whip, shattering her armor, injuring her, and breaking one of her wings.
  • A tall figure blazing with white light deflected the avatar's next whip strike and caught Aoweiliya as she fell.

Ch. 1428He did it

Youlun took Aoweiliya’s golden spear and fought Kailunse’s Demon God avatar after Aoweiliya was incapacitated by Abyssal corruption. He drew on the Prime Material Plane’s Sun to destroy the avatar, leaving Aoweiliya astonished that a mortal had slain a Demon God.

  • Aoweiliya thanked Youlun for saving her but said she needed time to suppress the Abyssal corruption and slaughter power inside her.
  • Youlun activated his holy armor and sword, then accepted Aoweiliya’s golden spear and charged Kailunse’s avatar.
  • Youlun used his extraordinary combat awareness to strike the avatar’s weak points, prompting Kailunse to unleash an attack over the entire battlefield.
  • Aoweiliya prepared to call for help as Kailunse’s black-and-red dome descended upon the battlefield.
  • Youlun drew the Sun’s power through the golden spear and pierced Kailunse’s avatar, killing the Demon God.

Ch. 1429The Angel's Smile

Youlun slew Kailunse’s Demon God avatar and helped save the continent, though the effort left his body so depleted that he believed he could never advance to Legendary. After the battlefield celebrated his victory, Aoweiliya agreed to keep his condition secret and asked him to grant her a request in return.

  • Youlun’s strike destroyed Kailunse’s avatar, and the allied forces hailed him as the hero who had saved the battlefield.
  • The demons, including the Demon Lords, fled, while the allied army and angel warband pursued them.
  • Youlun realized that challenging an opponent above his rank had damaged his potential and might prevent him from ever reaching Legendary.
  • Youlun returned Aoweiliya’s golden spear and told her that saving living beings and the world was worth the cost.
  • Aoweiliya accepted Youlun’s request to conceal his condition, then smiled and asked him to grant her a request in return.

Ch. 1430The limits of mortals did not end here!

After Youlun helped end the Abyss invasion, he returned to his kingdom and was crowned Youlun I. As he faced marriage proposals and reflected on his mortal limits, he resolved to push mortal combat strength to its peak.

  • Aoweiliya gave Youlun a personal Subspace Angel Horn and flew to meet Emperor Sero, while Youlun joined the Knights in hunting down the remaining demons.
  • Youlun and the Kingdom Knight Order reached the Gate of Anno, recovered the king and queen’s belongings, reclaimed Green Harbor with the Annora Kingdom’s army, and destroyed the Abyss portal.
  • Demon God Kailunse learned that Youlun Xifeng had killed his avatar and ordered his followers to watch for Youlun leaving the Prime Material Plane.
  • Youlun returned to the Lantbless Royal Capital and was crowned Youlun I at age twenty-three.
  • While discussing marriage proposals with Aoweiliya, Youlun watched her leave for the Nullity Battlefield and considered the limits of his lifespan.
  • Youlun discovered a strange blood energy within himself and vowed to bring mortal combat strength to its absolute peak.

Ch. 1431Twilight of the Gods

Moweidina punished the gods for abandoning the Prime Material World during the Abyssal invasion, stripping them of divine power and banishing them to wander among mortals for ten years. The fallen gods hid from their churches as ambitious mortals began coveting their Divine Sparks.

  • Moweidina emerged from seclusion and condemned the gods for provoking the Abyssal invasion and failing to protect the Prime Material World.
  • Moweidina decreed that the gods who had fought in the Abyss would lose their divine might, have their Divine Kingdoms sealed, and wander the mortal world for ten years.
  • Luoseda and the other chastened gods accepted Moweidina's punishment, beginning the Twilight of the Gods.
  • The fallen gods reached the Prime Material World as powerful Legendary beings, known by the churches as Saints, but still carried their Divine Sparks.
  • The churches tried to bring their gods to safety, but the gods hid instead, distrustful after failing to protect their believers.

Ch. 1432Disappointment and news

Youlun learned that Moweidina had cast the gods down into mortal forms, making their Divine Sparks and Divine Offices targets for ambitious mortals. Though Aoweiliya offered to help him hunt a god, he refused and chose to pursue his Path of Mortals; a year after the Twilight of the Gods, another earth-shattering event occurred.

  • Aoweiliya told Youlun that hundreds of gods, including powerful Greater Gods, had been cast down and could potentially be killed for their Divine Sparks and Divine Offices.
  • Aoweiliya offered to help Youlun hunt a god, but he refused because he wanted to develop his own power and follow the Path of Mortals.
  • Youlun told Aoweiliya that he wanted to reach the pinnacle and open a path for mortals, and she accepted his choice before challenging him to another battle.
  • Three months after the Twilight of the Gods, the gods remained hidden while their most trusted followers returned to the Prime Material World to guard them.
  • One year after the Twilight of the Gods, another earth-shattering event occurred in the Prime Material World.

Ch. 1433The one chosen by fate, the protagonist of the world

As the Twilight of the Gods drew to its final year, Youlun completed the Path of the Monarch while the God of Combat and Murder Lanuodesi was hunted down in the Hast Duchy. After Lanuodesi and his attackers destroyed one another, a former serf who had risen to criminal power rode past his fallen Saint body.

  • Emperor Sero stripped the Church of the Goddess of Magic of its state-religion status, and Pope Aliwusi conceded after the church’s holy wars ended in defeat.
  • Liluor, God of the Wilderness, was discovered and killed, and a Legendary powerhouse seized his Divine Spark; three more gods were killed by the fifth year of the Twilight of the Gods.
  • Youlun completed the Path of the Monarch, a path of immense combat strength that left its practitioners mortal, and named it for those without transcendent aptitude.
  • A Legendary team from another world found Lanuodesi hiding in the Wilderness of Despair, where his Wilderness Gunslinger betrayed him and helped set up an ambush.
  • Lanuodesi fought the attackers while weakened by poison, and both he and the Legendary team perished in the battle.
  • A young man who had once been a serf rode past Lanuodesi’s shattered Saint body, having risen to lead a gang in Hast Fortress through human trafficking and gambling.

Ch. 1434Son of a Serf, Ax the Schemer

Aikesi, a serf-born gang boss who believed mysterious luck had marked him as the world's protagonist, followed an instinct into the Whispering Thicket after a great upheaval. He found the dead Radnos, God of Battle and Murder, in a crater and realized he might seize the chance to claim a god’s power.

  • Aikesi recalled witnessing a heroic prince enter Hast Fortress and hearing a mysterious voice proclaim that one of the lowest-born mortals would become the world's protagonist.
  • Aikesi was thrown from his horse by a violent upheaval near the Whispering Thicket, then felt compelled to investigate something that had fallen in the woods.
  • Trusting his belief in his exceptional luck, Aikesi entered the monster-filled woods and followed his instincts to a deep crater.
  • Aikesi found a dead, godlike man lying in the crater, surrounded by golden blood.
  • Aikesi remembered hearing that someone could hunt a god and claim his Divine Spark, then jumped into the crater, thrilled by the opportunity.

Ch. 1435Queen

Aikesi seized Lanuodesi’s Divine Spark and became a New God, while Aoweiliya told Youlun she was leaving for war and asked how he felt about her. Youlun confessed that he did not want to lose her, and three days later announced her as his queen.

  • Aikesi drank divine blood, approached Lanuodesi’s corpse, and took its Divine Spark, ascending to godhood.
  • The ascension phenomenon spread across the world, and powerful beings recognized that Aikesi had seized the Authorities of Combat and Murder.
  • Aoweiliya arrived at the Randy palace and told Youlun she would lead an expedition to fight a Devil Lord, possibly leaving for centuries or millennia.
  • Aoweiliya asked Youlun how he felt about her, and Youlun dismissed the ministers before confessing that he never wanted to lose her.
  • Youlun and Aoweiliya spent the night together, and three days later Youlun publicly announced her as his queen.

Ch. 1436The Church of Radiance

Aikesi became the new God of Battle and Murder but lost much of Lannuodesi’s faith, so he traded worship sites with Luoseda to secure territories where he could build his following. He chose the Randy Knight Kingdom, where the Church of Radiance had displaced the Church of Order, and planned to use King Youlun and Queen Aoweiliya to suppress it.

  • Aikesi ascended to Heaven and took over Lannuodesi’s Divine Kingdom, but the late god’s followers resisted him and destroyed many of his churches.
  • Aikesi made a deal with Luoseda, exchanging worship sites and portals for the faith of the Annora Kingdom, the Hast Duchy, and the Randy Knight Kingdom.
  • Aikesi targeted the Annora Kingdom and Hast Duchy because their faith had weakened or become contested, while the Randy Knight Kingdom offered a chance to challenge the Church of Radiance.
  • The Church of Radiance grew in the Randy Knight Kingdom under Queen Aoweiliya and, with King Youlun’s support, suppressed the Church of Order.
  • Luoseda handed the Randy Knight Kingdom’s diocese to Aikesi, who planned to use Youlun and Aoweiliya as the key to defeating the Church of Radiance.

Ch. 1437The outcome

After Aikesi’s Church of Murder attacked the Randy Knight Kingdom, Youlun and Aoweiliya destroyed its followers across the kingdom and neighboring lands. Aikesi planned to ambush them in the Void, while Aoweiliya left to campaign in Aiweilun World; she never returned, and years later a Golden-Winged Angel arrived carrying her child.

  • Aikesi sent followers and bounty-seeking assassins to kill clergy and officials in the Randy Knight Kingdom and spread rumors against the Church of Radiance.
  • After the Church of Murder refused Youlun’s demand to stop, Youlun’s army eradicated its faith throughout the kingdom in a month.
  • Aoweiliya led elite fighters to hunt down followers of murder in the Annora Kingdom and Hast Duchy, including Aikesi’s former associates.
  • Enraged, Aikesi decided to ambush Aoweiliya in the Void during her campaign in Aiweilun World and then kill Youlun.
  • Aoweiliya said farewell to Youlun, who asked her to protect their unborn child, and stepped through a portal with her Archon Angels.
  • Years later, Aoweiliya had not returned, and a middle-aged Golden-Winged Angel arrived at Youlun’s palace carrying a winged infant.

Ch. 1438Manluo'er

Youlun met Aokanglai, Aoweiliya’s father, and learned that he had brought their newborn daughter Manluo'er for Youlun to raise. After Youlun passed Aokanglai’s test, Aokanglai revealed that Aoweiliya had been ambushed and killed, leaving Youlun enraged.

  • Youlun recognized Manluo'er as his daughter and asked Aokanglai where Aoweiliya was.
  • Aokanglai tested whether Youlun had the strength to raise Manluo'er by fighting him with spears.
  • Youlun and Aokanglai fought for an entire day while the knights waited outside the palace.
  • Aokanglai declared that Youlun had passed the test and revealed that Aikesi had ambushed Aoweiliya after she helped suppress Hell’s devils in Aiweilun World.
  • Aokanglai said Aoweiliya had given birth to Manluo'er with her last breath and asked him to stop Youlun from seeking revenge.
  • Youlun erupted in fury upon learning that Aoweiliya had been killed.

Ch. 1439Blood-Qi River

Youlun unleashed a Blood-Qi River that shook the Prime Material World and asked Aokanglai where Aikesi was. Learning that Aikesi would likely ambush him in the Void, Youlun asked Aokanglai to open a Gate of the Void so he could avenge Aoweiliya.

  • Youlun released his overwhelming Blood-Qi River, forcing people across the Randy Knight Kingdom and the palace to their knees.
  • Powerful figures across the Prime Material World sensed Youlun’s aura, while nobles and Knights wondered whether he had forged his Path of Mortals.
  • Youlun asked Aokanglai where Aikesi was so he could avenge Aoweiliya.
  • Aokanglai warned Youlun that Aikesi was a True God and would likely follow him into the Void to ambush him.
  • Youlun asked Aokanglai to open a Gate of the Void and declared that he would try to slay Aikesi.

Ch. 1440Life Like Summer Flowers!

Youlun left the Kingdom of Randy to enter the Void and avenge Manluo'er's murdered mother, after entrusting his daughter and kingdom to Aokanglai and three ministers. In the Void, he gained an epiphany that perfected his mortal path, but an icy voice confronted him before he could investigate his newfound power.

  • Aokanglai redirected the Spacetime Teleportation Gate to the Void, and Youlun saw the Sacred River Heavenly Land beyond it.
  • Youlun comforted his daughter Manluo'er, had a portrait painted with her, and named her the kingdom's first heir if he did not return.
  • Youlun charged Lord Mosa, Lord Kangtuo, and Lord Batuosi with governing until Manluo'er could rule, while Aokanglai promised to protect her.
  • Youlun refused to delay his mission, kissed Manluo'er goodbye, and crossed the gate into the Void to pursue the God of Murder.
  • After seeing the Sacred River, Youlun's Blood-Qi surged, perfecting his path of mortals and giving him the power to break through spacetime himself.
  • The Void suddenly grew bitterly cold, and an icy voice told Youlun that he had finally come out.
