Seeing the smug look on Greg's face, Victoria bristled.
"If you're so good, do it yourself!"
"Fine, I will."
Greg rolled up his sleeves as he spoke and approached a rundown house with a visibly collapsed section of roof. After examining its structure, he brought over a few fairly intact planks and some dry thatch. Then, relying on his exceptional physique, he leaped onto the roof and began repairing it.
He wasn't a professional craftsman, but he had watched plenty of repair videos in his previous life. He could manage simple, basic tasks like these.
He nailed the planks over the damaged section, then covered them with thatch, packed it down, and tied it securely to make sure the roof wouldn't leak again.
The children stood below, craning their necks to watch Greg work on the roof, their faces filled with wonder.
"Big Brother Greg is amazing!"
"Big Brother Greg even knows how to fix houses!"
Greg smiled. "Of course. Unlike a certain silly big sister, I'm good at everything."
Despite hearing his jab, Victoria couldn't help letting the corners of her mouth lift slightly as she watched him repair the children's house bit by bit. Still, she said,
"Hmph. That's about all you're good for."
"Heh. I think you're just too stubborn to admit it."
After nailing down another plank, Greg called to Victoria,
"Pass me that plank from down there-yes, the long one."
Victoria bent down, picked up the plank, and handed it up to him.
As Greg reached to take it, their fingertips accidentally brushed.
Both paused briefly, but neither said anything.
Victoria pulled her hand back first and turned her head, pretending to look elsewhere, though the tips of her ears quietly flushed red.
Greg pretended not to notice either and continued focusing on his work.
