Veronica's two strange remarks sent Greg's curiosity soaring.

Her cheeks were flushed, her gaze lowered, and her long lashes trembled faintly. She radiated an air utterly unlike her usual gentle, dignified manner.
"Pardon me," she said softly.
Then Greg's belt slipped off without a sound and fell to the floor.
At last, Greg understood why none of the Saintesses through the ages had been willing to perform this ritual.
