Warwick listened to the designer's long explanation, his eyes shining as he slapped his thigh.
"Yes, yes, yes! Exactly!!"
"Exactly, just the barrel, easy to carry!!"
The designer paused, then added:
"And since you Half-Orcs are so strong, we can design the shells as oversized hand grenades. You know those bang snaps?"
He looked at Warwick as he finished.
"Right, you've never played with bang snaps. Anyway, you throw them, and they explode when they hit the ground. We'll turn you into bombers!"
"Unlike hand grenades, whose timers limit your long-range capabilities."
Warwick kept nodding as he listened, indicating that he wanted those too.
The designer continued.
"As for the cannons, we can design them as backpacks you carry on your backs, with retractable support frames underneath to absorb the recoil."
"Too bad you've never played CF. Its challenge mode has some really good design inspiration."
"Oh, and we'll design a pair of AI Glasses to help you aim, so you'll know where the shells will land."
"Raise it to shoot farther, crouch and lower your head to shoot closer. Flexible!"
"Then we'll design the magazine like the ones on handheld grenade launchers, with automatic loading."
"Depending on the caliber, it should hold twenty rounds at a time. That ought to be enough."
As the designer spoke, Warwick was already picturing the scene.
Each of his people carried an enormous cannon barrel on their back, and while the Demon Clan was still kilometers away, they all dropped into a half crouch.
They lowered the support frames of the weapons mounted behind them by hand, braced them against the ground, then opened fire into the distance.
Just imagining the sight of ten thousand cannons firing together made his blood boil!
And that wasn't all. After one volley, the Half-Orc army would
