Lin Mo followed him inside, his footsteps ringing crisply against the metal floor.
The interior was much larger than he had imagined.
The dome rose at least thirty meters high, with silver-gray metal walls on every side and neatly aligned weld seams, giving the place a thoroughly industrial feel.
Light poured down from the overhead lighting array, illuminating the entire space.
Several staff members were busy inside, moving equipment and testing wiring, their footsteps hurried.
Far ahead, directly opposite them, stood another enormous metal door.
This door was thicker than the outer one, with an additional ring of rubber seals around its frame and locking mechanisms visible along the seam. It was clearly designed to be airtight.
Lin Mo glanced back at the first door. It was the same, and he immediately understood.
This was a double-door setup.
Once the Portal connected to the moon, there would be a vacuum on the other side.
These two doors served as an Airlock, keeping the vacuum from extending into the Underground City.
Secretary Li walked over to a row of storage racks, where several spacesuits resembling Mecha stood.
He turned to Lin Mo and said:
"Commander Lin, before the Portal opens, the air inside will be pumped out."
"You'll need to wear one of these spacesuits to go in."
He paused, then added somewhat uncertainly:
"...I'm not sure whether wearing this will affect your spellcasting?"
Lin Mo walked over and examined the unusual-looking spacesuits curiously.
They were completely different from those he had seen on the news before, looking much like Iron Man's armor in the movies.
The material was lighter than he had imagined, with articulated joints at the fingers, unlike the bulky, inflated models of the past.
He answered honestly, "I've never tried it. We'll find out when the time
