The older Elf exchanged a few quiet words with the Earth Elves beside him.
A moment later, he gave his answer.
"Sir, with sufficient resources, withstanding some of the attacks would be no problem."
"A large-scale volley would require your weapons to intercept a portion first. The barrier would block the attacks that slipped through."
Zheng Jinren could accept that result.
Great Xia had never expected to withstand five hundred Plasma Bugs through a Magic Barrier alone.
The Orbital Platforms, Anti-Orbit Missiles, and Interceptor Missiles were the first line of defense.
The Magic Barrier's job was to stop anything that slipped through and keep a single hit from disabling large sections of the base's systems.
Zheng Jinren said gravely:
"You've seen the size of the base. Roughly how long would construction take?"
The older Elf did not answer immediately.
He raised his hand, and labels for the length of the model's outer ring, the number of nodes, and the positions of the Array Eyes appeared one after another.
The more he calculated, the graver his expression became.
"With our current force of one hundred, even working at full capacity, it would take around three months."
The tactical room fell silent, and several officers looked anxious.
Three months.
Kona Base could not wait that long.
Zheng Jinren's brows drew tight as he said:
"We don't have three months."
He raised his hand and brought up another star map.
Five hundred blue points of light were slowly approaching the Kona Satellite from the direction of the Third Planet.
"The Plasma Bugs are expected to arrive in two months."
"The barrier must be combat-ready before then."
After some thought, the older Elf said:
"To bring that down to under two months, we'll need more people."
"How many?" Zheng Jinren asked.
"At least another
