Wolaz fought through the pain and quickly rose, looking toward the distant Holy Human Race mage with utter venom in its eyes.
It glanced at the "iron spears" constantly hurtling in from behind, then swept its gaze over the endless vines.
A stifled frustration with nowhere to vent nearly drove it mad.
"Argh! Damn you two-legged beasts!!"
When had it ever suffered such humiliation!
It also realized that, without the army's cover, it had become a living target.
"Just you wait!!!"
Wolaz let out a roar full of defiance. Seeing the Holy Human Race mage raise his staff again, it could only choose a "strategic" retreat.
It withdrew into the Demon Clan army, using the bodies of low-ranking demons as its shields.
Its frenzied, defiant roars were drowned out by successive bombardments. It no longer dared advance recklessly.
The Holy Human Race Mage Adept who had just cast a tier-five sacred spell slowly lowered his still-glowing staff.
He watched the demon commander, an embodiment of fear and death, retreat miserably into the torrent of the Demon Clan army.
And... all the while, another bombardment struck every breath or two.
He panted heavily, fine beads of sweat seeping from his forehead.
Seeing this, one of his people immediately guided a Pegasus in front of him. The magical shield around the rider blazed brightly as he called out in concern:
"Reverend, are you all right?"
At this point in the battle, their Holy Human Race had also endured tremendous pressure.
The priest shook his head.
"I'm fine. I just need to recover."
That last strike had consumed a great deal of magic power.
He glanced at his staff, then looked up toward the direction from which those endless "iron spears" descended.
His sacred magic could wound a tier-six demon.
That was enough
