"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom-!"
As the suicide drones launched their suicidal attacks, a dense barrage of explosions thundered through the night sky!
In just a few dozen seconds, over a thousand bursts of fire turned the entire sky as bright as day.
The Winged Demons' flying skills were useless against these "strange birds" that could only charge in straight lines.
Even the Gargoyles' hard bodies were no longer indestructible against explosions at such close range.
If one blast couldn't kill them, then two would, or three!
It was a massacre.
And an inspiring hymn of triumph!
The surviving Elf Knights hovered dumbly in the air, watching Demon Clan remains rain down around them, forgetting even to swing the lances in their hands.
The Demon Clan's flying units, which had driven them into a desperate situation moments earlier, had been routed in no time.
As for the remaining three thousand or so Winged Demons and Gargoyles, they had long since lost their nerve and scattered in all directions, shrieking in terror.
Inside the Portal.
Long Zhan paid no attention to the aerial battle. Instead, his gaze settled on the figure that had just taken a 155 mm high-explosive shell and was still urging the Demon Clan army forward.
"Send five Heavy Mortars through the Portal immediately," he ordered decisively.
"Use Precision-Guided Armor-Piercing Shells to lock onto that target and maintain suppressive fire."
Now that the Portal had expanded, the Heavy Mortars could pass through after some simple disassembly.
The Artillery Soldiers immediately sprang into action. Several men carried a mortar to the Portal entrance, where the soldiers on the other side took it and quickly assembled it.
Everything was smooth and efficient.
To these Artillery Soldiers, this equipment was an extension of their limbs, ingrained in their muscle memory.
