After learning that a Planet Devourer was approaching the Kona Star System, Great Xia’s leaders ordered nationwide special-class wartime mobilization and began preparing weapons and seeking allies. The chapter ended with the emergency measures announced across Great Xia, leaving citizens alarmed and wondering what threat they faced.
Great Xia prepared for an undisclosed planetary threat as the people conserved electricity and workers raced to build the Sea-Calming Divine Needle on the Moon. On Terra, Lin Mo gathered the leaders of the surviving races to seek ways to stop the Planet Devourer, but had not yet revealed the danger.
Lin Mo revealed that a moon-sized Demon Clan Planet Devourer was approaching and showed the other leaders footage proving that Great Xia's strongest weapons could barely affect it. The leaders admitted that Terra's magic had no spell capable of harming a creature of that scale, leaving them without a known way to stop it.
Lin Mo asked the leaders of Terra’s Four Races to search their ancient records for a way to stop the Planet Devourer, since their current abilities could not threaten it. After they left, Lin Mo and Zhao Gang prepared Great Xia’s desperate antimatter and Planet-Buster Cannon measures while Lin Mo headed to Kona Base.
Lin Mo returned to Kona Satellite Base after the Terra conference and learned that Great Xia had no direct way to defeat the Planet Devourer. Zheng Jinren revealed a plan to delay it by detecting and destroying its portals before they could expand.
Lin Mo and Zheng Jinren planned to stop the Space-Jumping Beast by destroying its wormhole as it opened, buying Great Xia time. After learning that the Planet Devourer was draining and merging with the Tenth Planet, Lin Mo questioned why it remained only moon-sized despite supposedly consuming many planets.
Lin Mo and Zheng Jinren watched the Planet Devourer siphon matter from the Tenth Planet and learned that the Kona Civilization had sent its entire fleet to attack it. With the devouring expected to take a month, Lin Mo returned through the Cross-World Portal to the Great Xia Fief, where Fendona welcomed him home.
Lin Mo and Great Xia prepared to confront the Planet Devourer as it consumed the Tenth Planet. After seeing five hundred Kona warships' bombardment fail against its shield, Lin Mo realized the monster could not fight back at that moment.
Lin Mo and Zheng Jinren learned that Great Xia’s lunar Planet-Buster Cannon would have only one shot unless the Kona Civilization helped produce antimatter. After the Kona Civilization rejected their initial proposal, Watcher offered a revised plan to jointly build a cannon in the Kona Star System, ending with the cryptic mention of a Kamikaze Contingency Plan.
Great Xia and the Kona Civilization agreed to jointly build Planet-Buster Cannons and engines on the Kona Satellite, while Kona offered miniature Dyson Cloud technology in exchange for Great Xia’s blueprints and engineering support. As the technology arrived for verification, Academician Qian Zhenhua received the urgent request and was stunned by its contents.
Qian Zhenhua and Great Xia’s scientists verified the Kona Civilization’s miniature Dyson Cloud technology as genuine and feasible. At Kona Satellite Base, Zheng Jinren sent Watcher the promised blueprints and began moving personnel and equipment through the portals for the construction operation.
Great Xia and the Kona Civilization began transforming a satellite into a mobile fortress to fight the Planet Devourer, with Zheng Jinren ordering Great Xia’s forces to take on their share of the construction. Lin Mo opened a vast portal to Blue Star’s industrial base, allowing the work to begin in earnest.
Cho'Gath returned to the Ninth Planet with Yaxes and other Demon Venerables, intending to watch the Planet Devourer and the technological civilizations clash. He recalled how the Planet Devourer's emissary had forced him to hand over star charts by threatening to expose his role in the deaths of other Demon Gods.
Cho'Gath went to the Ninth Planet to see whether Blue Star Civilization could defeat the Planet Devourer and avenge the loss of his coordinate crystals. Through the Magic-Eye Beasts, he witnessed the Devourer consuming the Tenth Planet, then Yaxes cried out that something was happening.
The Planet Devourer used matter from the Tenth Planet as propellant and began accelerating toward the inner Kona Star System. Great Xia estimated it would take at least a century to reach Kona Satellite, but the Kona Civilization’s intelligent brain, Watcher, requested communications.
Watcher warned Zheng Jinren that the Planet Devourer was accelerating and proposed slowing it with kinetic bombardment from solid ammunition and captured meteoroids. Zheng Jinren committed Great Xia’s available ships and expanded warship production, then contacted the forward cruisers to begin the interception plan.
Zheng Jinren ordered Great Xia’s cruisers and transport ships to join the Kona Civilization’s effort to slow the Planet Devourer with accelerated meteorites. Their first bombardment barely scratched the creature, but it delayed its acceleration by one second.
Great Xia and the Kona Civilization repeatedly hurled iron-rich meteorites at the Planet Devourer, slowing its acceleration and provoking it into reshaping its crust into a furious giant face. Wang Chong ordered the bombardment to continue, while Cho'Gath watched the battle from afar and hoped both sides would destroy each other.
Half a year into preparations for the Planet Devourer’s arrival, Great Xia and the Kona Civilization raced to build defenses as the monster accelerated toward Kona Satellite. Zheng Jinren ordered Great Xia’s construction effort prioritized after the meteorites used to slow the threat nearly ran out.
Great Xia struggled to maintain its home defenses and megaprojects as prolonged wartime labor pushed its limited workforce toward exhaustion and unrest. After six days of grueling lunar construction work, Wu Fa cursed the endless shifts while Wu Tian warned him that cameras were watching.
Exhausted moon workers complained about Great Xia’s relentless wartime labor, and Wu Tian argued that the Solar System could defend itself without helping the Kona Civilization. His reasoning stirred resentment among the workers, leaving them increasingly unwilling to keep sacrificing their lives for the war effort.
Wu Fa and Wu Tian organized exhausted workers into a secret movement demanding shorter hours, better rations, and an end to resource diversion toward the Kona Star System. A month later, their hidden chat had grown to more than 210,000 members, and workers began asking when they would strike.
