"A spar, a beating-if you don't like me, just say so. Why get yourself this worked up?"
Wan Lan spread her hands helplessly. "Duke, there's no bitter feud between us, and I don't dislike you. I'm willing to spar, too. What exactly are you angry about?"
Duke Slyder's lips trembled. "You... but I hate you people!"
Wan Lan fell silent for a second, then suddenly smiled. "Then... sorry?"
The three people in the car froze. Only the sound of the engine filled the air.
"Aah!!"
Slyder went wild. Slyder fell apart.
The driver cried. Glittering tears rolled down and struck the steering wheel amid Slyder's screams of despair and Wan Lan's barely perceptible smile.
After arriving at the Royal Knights, Wan Lan got out of the car beaming and even said goodbye to Slyder before leaving.
"Goodbye, Duke. I hope you have a pleasant afternoon."
Slyder said nothing. The driver stomped on the accelerator and shot away with a determined gaze, carrying Duke Slyder away from the source of his breakdown at a speed that suggested they were fleeing for their lives.
Watching the car race away, Wan Lan found it rather funny, rather entertaining.
The knight who had come to welcome her from the Royal Knights glanced at the disappearing rear of the car.
"Duke Slyder is actually a decent man. Aside from being arrogant and bad with words, he has a noble character."
Wan Lan nodded. He clearly possessed Seventh Tier strength, yet even after she had driven him to a breakdown, he had never thought of overpowering her by force. He was indeed a duke with principles.
She replied cheerfully, "You're right. This duke's character deserves recognition, and he's quite entertaining."
The knight guiding her paused, a trace of bewilderment appearing on his face.
