"Have today's supplies arrived? Have you noticed anything unusual?"
Xue Qing found the head of the Logistics Department and asked about the situation while watching Ye Buyu's movements out of the corner of her eye.
Ye Buyu headed straight for the kitchen and lifted a pot lid to look inside. The dishes had yet to be prepared, but the rice was already cooking.
The rice grains, which could hardly be called soft or translucent, gave off sweet-smelling steam. Washed and chopped scallions, ginger, and garlic sat in a basin, while washed greens lay on the cutting board.
Clearly, if the emergency notice hadn't come so suddenly, these vegetables would probably already have been in the pot.
Ye Buyu picked up a scallion between two fingers, pinched her nose with her other hand, and looked at the apron-wearing person beside her in disgust.
"You eat this?"
The Cook Squad member was utterly baffled. "You can't eat scallions?"
"This thing is a scallion?"
"It isn't?!"
The corner of Ye Buyu's mouth twitched. Looking at the writhing, blood-red worm before her, she felt sick at the thought that everyone else saw this thing as a scallion.
Then she looked at the pile of eyeballs beside it, their gazes frozen in death, and the pot of what appeared to be rice but was actually a writhing mass of some unknown white substance.
And then there was the sliced meat, so rotten that its original shape was impossible to make out. Who knew what the hell it was? Not only was it oozing pus, it could breathe, and now it was even smiling eerily at her.
Ye Buyu really wanted to give Little Whale a piece of her mind. You actually recommended I come here to eat? Eat what? Calamities?
