Several Calamities at the peak of level thirteen exchanged looks.
A Calamity who looked like a young boy spread his hands.
"I have a brain. Count me out."
He looked at Ye Buyu with a beaming smile, sitting on a rock and swinging his legs, looking for all the world like the mischievous boy next door.
"Big sister, we haven't figured out your ability yet. Your power isn't particularly strong-in fact, it's very weak.
"But if you could force [Ritual Flame] to unleash its Origin Power, that means you pose some threat to it. That threat may not be enough for you to kill it, but it can trigger the restrictions here.
"We're not idiots, either. Big sister, you're trying to use that to make us trigger the restrictions, aren't you?"
The boy gazed at her with smiling eyes, but beneath the gray mist shrouding them, there wasn't a trace of goodwill. Instead, they were filled with murderous intent.
"You're so clever, big sister. If only you weren't so clever. Then we could kill you."
Ye Buyu thought that compared to this angelic-looking boy, Little Wan was far sweeter and more adorable.
"What's your name?"
Once I get out, I'll have Little Brat trip you up.
The boy considered it. "No harm in telling you. I'm [Monarch]."
The boy's gaze abruptly grew deep and dark. As he sat on the rock, the surrounding peak level thirteen Calamities seemed a little diminished beside him. He really did have something of a monarch's bearing.
Amid the disintegration, those who had been called monarchs, or regarded as sovereigns by living beings, and had left an indelible mark on history had also converged and manifested as Calamities.
That oppressive presence, embodying the spirits of countless sovereigns, could indeed shake a person to the core.
