Background / History
Attempted sanitation takeover
Lu Feng came from humble beginnings before becoming one of Li Hongze's key men at Changqing Company. By his introduction, he controlled the company's affairs south of Six-Yuan Street and had an established reputation as a dangerous local enforcer 2 10.
He led Changqing's attempt to seize the Su Family's storage yard. Although he initially ordered his men to overpower the family's defenders and remove their equipment, Su Tiannan negotiated a five-day delay. Lu Feng later explained that an immediate clash involving more than a hundred people would attract unwanted attention, especially with Wang Daolin offering to mediate 2 3.
Lu Feng expected to profit personally from the takeover of the Su, Bai, Liu, and Kong companies, asking Li Hongze for half their business. Li instead promised to make him Dragon City's “top blade” within five years 3.
Freight-yard confrontation
After Su Tianbei unsuccessfully tried to capture one of Lu Feng's managers and returned badly wounded, representatives of the four families met Lu Feng at Changqing's Langtong Freight Yard. Lu Feng refused to let them retain their sanitation operations and threatened to have the father of anyone who resisted designated the principal offender and executed 5.
The meeting turned violent when Lu Feng attacked Su Tianyu following an argument and a spill of scalding tea. Tianyu countered, knocked him against the coffee table, and pinned his right ear to the tabletop with a fruit knife. Tianyu then shouted that Lu Feng was attacking the negotiators, bringing the families' waiting men into the compound 5.
Lu Feng tore off his nearly severed ear, pocketed it, and pursued the escaping representatives with a decorative saber. He knocked down several opponents before Tianyu escaped in An Qiqi's red sedan. Lu Feng and his men battered the car's rear windshield during the pursuit; afterward, he ordered a doctor to sew his ear back on 6 7.
Retaliation and police pressure
When the four companies suspended sanitation work and protested Changqing's attempted monopoly, Lu Feng proposed crippling the workers who took the lead. He monitored the demonstrations, had a subordinate memorize participants' faces, cultivated the police sergeant Ermao with a dinner invitation, and dispatched five men to carry out an attack 8 9 10.
Following serious injuries to workers from two companies, Lu Feng planned another operation against the Su Family. He instructed Floral Shirt to injure family members without killing them. The raid failed when Su Tianbei arrived with reinforcements and the defenders trapped the attackers inside the yard 12 13 14 15.
Several attackers, including Floral Shirt, went missing from Lu Feng's perspective, while the Su warehouses caught fire. Lu Feng denied ordering the fire when Li Hongze confronted him. He also rejected a subordinate's proposal to have Li Xing demand the missing men from the Su Family, recognizing that this would expose Changqing's responsibility for the raid 16 17.
A subsequent shooting wounded Su Tiannan and narrowly missed Wang Daolin. Li Xing and Li Hongze questioned Lu Feng about it, but he repeatedly denied hiring the gunman. Li Xing remained suspicious, citing Lu Feng's experience with armed criminals from outside Dragon City; the passages do not establish Lu Feng as the shooting's organizer 17 18.
Fortune House defeat
At Fortune House, Li Hongze agreed to pay the four families six hundred thousand in compensation and made Lu Feng responsible for arranging the payment. Once the money arrived, Changqing's men attacked the recipients. Lu Feng's decision to fight followed hints from Li Hongze, but was driven chiefly by his humiliation over the failed takeover, arrested subordinates, injuries, and financial losses 21 22.
Su Tianyu struck Lu Feng with a floor lamp, beginning a prolonged fight through the private room and down the restaurant's exterior stairs. Lu Feng inflicted serious wounds with a metal tissue box and a broken liquor bottle, but his stamina failed. Tianyu pursued him outside and beat him until he could no longer resist 22 23.
Neither side reported the Fortune House fight. Lu Feng was hospitalized, where he instinctively shielded his head during treatment, apparently believing Tianyu was still attacking him 24.
Recovery at Qiu Mountain
Lu Feng spent more than two months recovering. After discharge, he became deeply depressed amid criticism from Li Hongze and internal competition within Changqing. He withdrew to Qiu Mountain Temple for peace and recuperation 46.
A lay Buddhist disciple, he had previously visited the mountain on the first and fifteenth of each lunar month, spending two days eating vegetarian meals and handling prayer beads. His retreat was interrupted when Bai Hongbo and Li Tao questioned him about a missing maritime shipment 46.
Lu Feng denied involvement and suggested that people who made their living at sea should know about a raid involving several speedboats. Li Tao's mention of military connections stopped him from escalating the confrontation. Bai subsequently reported that Lu Feng and Changqing probably were not responsible, and Lu Feng left the mountain that day 46.
Appearance
- Build: Burly, with a weathered face 2 23.
- Hair: Close-cropped at his introduction 2.
- Distinguishing injury: His right ear is nearly severed during the freight-yard confrontation; he tears it off himself and later has it reattached 5 6 7.
Personality
Lu Feng treats intimidation and violence as ordinary business tools. He believes stronger operators are entitled to overpower weaker ones, dismisses the four families' pleas to preserve their livelihoods, and shows open contempt for protesting workers despite his own modest origins 5 10 14.
His authority depends heavily on reputation and “face.” The Fortune House assault is partly an attempt to restore the fear and respect lost through Changqing's setbacks. He considers sending a few underlings to prison an acceptable cost of crippling his opponents 22.
He is capable of restraint when he recognizes a practical risk: he accepts the five-day delay to avoid attracting attention and understands why openly using police contacts to recover his attackers would incriminate Changqing. Nevertheless, anger and humiliation repeatedly override his judgment 3 17 22.
Abilities & Skills
Close-Quarters Combat
Lu Feng has combat training, with reflexes, coordination, and ruthlessness well above those of an ordinary person 22.

- Uses collar grips and forceful pulls to attempt takedowns 22.
- Turns nearby objects into weapons during close combat 5 23.
- Limit: Heavy drinking and sexual excess have degraded his physical condition. Prolonged fighting exhausts him, contributing directly to his defeat by Su Tianyu 23.
Pain Tolerance

- Continues fighting after blows to the head, puncture wounds, and a fall from the exterior stairs 22 23.
- Limit: His endurance does not prevent eventual exhaustion and incapacitation 23.
Enforcement and Intimidation
- Commands Changqing's armed men in takeover attempts, pursuits, and organized assaults 2 6 14 22.
- Identifies outspoken protesters for targeted retaliation 9 10.
- Uses threats against family members and livelihoods to pressure business rivals 5 7.
