Ch. 426Black energy swallowed the mountain, and the tomb gate opened

Ren Ye and his companions took shelter in the Dragon Lord Mausoleum after black energy engulfed Immortality Mountain, and they reunited with Daoist Fenglin inside. Meanwhile, Ba Wu received orders to rescue Little Prince Huai and escort him to the Capital, while the cause of the mountain’s upheaval remained unknown.

  • The Human Emperor Seal shielded Ren Ye, Old Liu, Xu Bangzi, Er Leng, and Ai Fei from the deadly black energy as they advanced toward the Dragon Lord Mausoleum.
  • Xu Bangzi spotted the mausoleum’s open gate, and Ren Ye decided the group should shelter inside rather than face the pursuers outside.
  • Fenglin emerged from the black energy and joined the others as they entered the tomb, whose gate then shut behind them.
  • In the Entrance Chamber, Ren Ye recognized the little girl depicted beside Three Young Dragons in the intact mural, while Fenglin said someone had tampered with something inside the Witch God Altar.
  • Ba Wu accepted the secret decree to lead troops to Loushan Pass and rescue Little Prince Huai with Wang Shantang, then told the Steward to keep Wu Pangzi from bringing up the six-million-Star-Source land purchase.

Ch. 427Black qi pierced the heavens, his name shook the frontier

Ba Wu and Wang Shantang moved to rescue Little Prince Huai after learning he was trapped on Immortality Mountain, while Wu Pangzi used the imperial response to press Ba Wu’s steward about their deal. Ren Ye’s group became the talk of Funan County after surviving the encirclement and the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master’s attack, and they reached an open coffin inside the Dragon Lord Mausoleum.

  • Ba Wu interpreted the emperor’s edict as prioritizing Little Prince Huai’s safety and split his forces, sending his deputy general toward Immortality Mountain while he marched for Loushan Pass.
  • Wu Pangzi agreed to pay Ba Wu’s steward six million Star Source and reminded him that he wanted Ba Wu’s help securing land in the Southern Border for Prince Huai.
  • People in Funan County gathered to watch black qi rise from Immortality Peak and heard that Little Prince Huai’s six-person group had killed dozens of supernatural ability users and survived the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master’s attack.
  • Wang Shantang’s guard reported that Ren Ye’s group had killed hundreds of supernatural ability users, escaped into the mausoleum grounds, and damaged the spiritual essence in the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master’s shuttle.
  • Ren Ye and his companions walked through the Dragon Lord Mausoleum and found a main burial chamber with an enormous open coffin.

Ch. 428The plundered Dragon Lord Mausoleum

Ren Ye and his companions discovered that Ao Yin’s mausoleum had been plundered and heard Fenglin explain the Dragon Lord’s political downfall. When Ren Ye tried to close Ao Yin’s coffin, azure light entered him and delivered a message about the Migration Land, a gate, and the Thousand-Mile Coiling Dragon; the group then questioned where the mausoleum’s Witch Spirit had gone.

  • Ren Ye and the others found Ao Yin’s coffin overturned, a broken stele, and a passage dug into the chamber wall.
  • Er Leng identified Ao Yin as the Southern Border’s last Dragon Lord, and Fenglin recounted how the sovereign stripped him of his rank and confined him until his death.
  • Ren Ye found Ao Yin’s decayed corpse in the coffin and tried to replace its lid.
  • Azure light emerged from Ao Yin’s corpse as Ren Ye’s Destiny flowed into it, and the light entered Ren Ye’s brow with a message about the Migration Land and the Thousand-Mile Coiling Dragon.
  • Ren Ye told the group what he had heard, and Fenglin wondered why Ao Yin’s clan Witch Spirit was absent and whether his inheritance had gone to the Southern Border.

Ch. 429The stone array, leaving the tomb

Ren Ye and the others repaired a teleportation array in the Dragon Lord’s tomb and escaped to Funan County. They found an invitation from Commander-in-Chief Wang Shantang for Little Prince Huai to enter the county and talk.

  • Ren Ye’s group explored the tomb, found no other way forward, and learned that Fenglin could not safely probe beyond the sealed door.
  • The six entered a robbers’ tunnel and discovered a damaged teleportation array that Fenglin and Xu Qingzhao identified as an exit prepared by someone familiar with the tomb.
  • Ren Ye agreed to use the array, and Fenglin and Xu Qingzhao repaired it before teleporting the group away.
  • The group emerged from a dry well in Funan County, where Fenglin ordered Er Leng to erase traces of the array.
  • Xu Bangzi found an arrow carrying Wang Shantang’s invitation for Little Prince Huai to enter the county for a conversation.

Ch. 430Murder at every turn

Ren Ye and his companions hid in Funan County while officials sealed the routes, and they decided to wait for imperial forces rather than trust Wang Shantang. Wang Shantang secretly ambushed and killed Guo Zheng and the Golden Qilin Owl Guards, while Li Yan arrived at Loushan Pass with another group seeking Little Prince Huai.

  • Er Leng and Xu Bangzi reported that soldiers had sealed Funan County’s gates, so Ren Ye’s group chose to hide in the Eternal Night Divine Ship and wait for more imperial officials to arrive.
  • Wang Shantang learned that Guo Zheng and five Golden Qilin Owl Guards had come from Hezhou Prefecture under a secret edict to rescue Little Prince Huai.
  • Wang Shantang lured Guo Zheng and the others into the watchtower, attacked them, and helped six black-robed figures kill them.
  • Wang Shantang used Guo Zheng’s severed head to mask the stench from his body as the black-robed group prepared to search southwest for the formation disturbance.
  • Li Yan arrived at Loushan Pass disguised among a group sent to investigate the Immortality Mountain case, and Xun Yao identified him as a virgin in front of the crowd.

Ch. 431Ren Residence Black Slave

Li Yan learned that the operation in Loushan Pass aimed to capture Little Prince Huai and gave up seeking the Azure Dragon Book Slip so he could help Ren Ye. Meanwhile, Wang Shantang planned to flush Little Prince Huai out by terrorizing Funan County, and Li Yan prepared to send a message.

  • Xun Yao told Li Yan that the gathered Supernatural Ability Users were lying in wait for Little Prince Huai, who was believed to be leaving Funan.
  • Li Yan realized Ren Ye was entangled in the operation and decided to abandon his pursuit of the Azure Dragon Book Slip.
  • Wang Shantang received Li Yan and the other experts at Loushan Pass while more hired fighters were expected to arrive.
  • Wang Shantang told Xu Ersan that Little Prince Huai had likely teleported into Funan County and ordered civilians killed to force him out of hiding.
  • Li Yan told one of his followers to leave and deliver a message.

Ch. 432The feather fan unfurled northward

The Heavenly Rhino Cave Master cared for his frail young son while awaiting orders to return to the county town. Aboard the Eternal Night Divine Ship, Fenglin told Ren Ye that his path to expanding Qingliang Prefecture lay north, not through negotiations with the Southern Border.

  • The Heavenly Rhino Cave Master fed his son a simple meal and promised they would go outside to see the sunshine soon.
  • A disciple brought word from Loushan Pass, and the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master ordered Third Grade experts selected for their descent in half an hour.
  • Ren Ye told Fenglin that Qingliang Prefecture was too weak to engage with the Southern Border's court and explained his plan to expand south through diplomacy.
  • Fenglin explained that the Southern Border's ruler would not cede territory because doing so would sacrifice national Destiny.
  • Fenglin pointed north and declared that, with him there, the road north was open.

Ch. 433The Fortune-Telling Stall

Ren Ye and Er Leng investigated the soldiers searching for their hiding place and tried to learn whether the Southern Border's sovereign had issued a decree. At the town gate, Ren Ye recognized a fortune-telling stall whose inscriptions named Ren Daguo and Ren Qingning, and the old fortune-teller handed him a message that stunned him.

  • At the gate, Ren Ye stopped when he saw a fortune-telling stall bearing the names Ren Daguo and Ren Qingning.
  • After Er Leng paid five hundred Star Source, the fortune-teller gave Ren Ye a slip of paper, and Ren Ye exclaimed that Heaven had not abandoned him.

Ch. 434Meeting

Ren Ye reunited with Li Yan’s allies in Loushan Pass and prepared to sneak his group out, but their plan was interrupted when soldiers began arresting civilians. Wang Shantang revealed that he intended to execute ordinary people to frighten the townsfolk into helping capture Prince Huai, and ordered local officials to take the blame.

  • Ren Ye received Li Yan’s note and met Mo Youqian, who confirmed that Li Yan was inside Loushan Pass and explained that Xu Ersan had brought their group there.
  • Ren Ye learned that dozens of Third Grade Supernatural Ability Users were gathered in the pass and agreed to Mo Youqian’s plan to disguise his companions and escape through the gate.
  • Er Leng brought Ai Fei, Old Liu, Fenglin, and Xu Bangzi to meet Ren Ye, and the group changed into black robes before heading into the pass with Mo Youqian.
  • The group heard townspeople report that soldiers were arresting civilians and went to the gate tower, where Ren Ye saw prisoners being driven forward.
  • Wang Shantang explained that he was arresting civilians to make the townspeople fear Prince Huai and help find him, then ordered county officials to stage the executions and play the villains.

Ch. 435County Deputy En Gongsheng, one man's cry

Geng Zhong challenged Wang Shantang’s order to execute civilians without evidence, but Wang had him beheaded after supernatural ability users forced the officials to their knees. Wang then led the officials to the gate tower to oversee the executions, where Ren Ye and Mo Youqian arrived as a black-and-white sedan chair entered Funan County.

  • Wang Shantang ordered the execution of suspected civilian accomplices and threatened to implicate their families, prompting Geng Zhong to question his authority and the lack of evidence.
  • Geng Zhong refused to oversee the executions and accused Wang Shantang of forging an imperial decree and intending to rebel.
  • Wang Shantang’s supernatural ability users forced the officials to their knees, and Wang beheaded Geng Zhong when he continued to denounce him.
  • Wang Shantang showed the decree and ordered the remaining officials to accompany him to the gate tower, where more than a hundred civilians were held for execution.
  • Ren Ye arrived and started to act, but Mo Youqian restrained him and urged him to wait until the crowd dispersed.
  • A black-and-white sedan chair entered Funan County near Loushan Pass.

Ch. 436One Sword Opens the Pass

Wei Xing staged the execution of more than a hundred commoners to force Prince Huai Ren Ye to reveal himself. Ren Ye intervened, killed He Fei with a sword that split Loushan Pass, and openly challenged the forces behind the plot.

  • Wei Xing ordered Wang Shantang to announce the execution of the commoners and demand that residents help find Little Prince Huai.
  • He Fei prepared to kill an innocent woodcutter, and the woodcutter’s daughter ran onto the execution ground to beg for her father’s life.
  • Ren Ye stepped forward despite Mo Youqian’s warning and used an Ancient Sword to kill He Fei and pierce the gate tower and wall at Loushan Pass.
  • Ren Ye rescued the girl, put on his princely robes, identified himself as Prince Huai, and declared that he accepted the game plotted by Great Qian and the Southern Border rebels.
  • A Supernatural Ability User and three helpers attacked Ren Ye, but his Night Walker killed the first attacker with one punch as Ren Ye challenged the rest to come at him together.

Ch. 437The battle at Loushan Pass

  • Night Walker killed the three Third Grade Supernatural Ability Users who had flown from the gatehouse, then healed his wounds with silver liquid.
  • The defenders learned that Night Walker was a Fourth Grade corpse puppet, and Wei Xing ordered the forces at Loushan Pass to surround and attack Ren Ye.
  • Li Baishou and Madam Chishui prepared to restrain Night Walker while the attackers rushed Ren Ye, who detonated a poisoned pellet and killed seven or eight Supernatural Ability Users.
  • Fenglin and the others joined the battle, while Li Yan arranged for Old Liu to knock him back into the gatehouse.
  • Li Yan rose behind Wei Xing and began casting the Soul-Binding Technique, saying he would help Ren Ye make his name known throughout the Southern Border.

Ch. 438Talking the City Gates Open

Li Yan exposed Wei Xing’s possession of Wang Shantang’s corpse and began extracting Wei Xing’s true soul, while Ren Ye’s taunts forced the magistrate to open Loushan Pass and lead the defenders into battle. As the fighting spread, the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master arrived with more than a thousand Supernatural Ability Users and emerged after sensing Li Yan’s fourth-grade strength.

  • Li Yan bound Wei Xing, used talismans to reveal Wang Shantang’s decaying corpse, and drew Wei Xing’s true soul toward an ancient cauldron’s phantom.
  • Ren Ye shouted that Wang Shantang had been dead and accused the gate officers of ignoring the impostor and a false Imperial Edict.

  • Li Yan told Ren Ye that he would carve out a foothold for him in the Southern Border, then revealed a tremendous surge of physical power.
  • Li Yan challenged the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master to withstand three punches that would shatter the Si Ox Horn, then leaped toward him and vanished from sight.

Ch. 440Three punches to repel the enemy, tearing a Fourth Grade apart

Li Yan defeated the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master with three punches, then used the Primordial Golden Dipper and his physical strength to devastate Wei Xing’s reinforcements. As the battle continued at Loushan Pass, Ren Ye sent Old Liu and Er Leng away with the Formless Fruit and Thousand Poisons Manual while a large cavalry force approached.

  • Li Yan struck the Heavenly Rhino Shuttle twice, then broke the Heavenly Rhino Cave Master’s arm in a direct clash and sent him crashing to the ground.
  • Li Yan turned toward Wei Xing, who called for the Five Sons of Mud Mountain and more than a dozen Celestial Surveillance Bureau experts to attack.

Ch. 441Fighting until Loushan collapsed

Li Yan and his allies fought to hold off the attackers at Loushan Pass while Ren Ye’s group tried to escape, but Old Daoist Banshan arrived and crushed the western city beneath a mountain phantom. Ai Fei and Xu Bangzi reached the northern gate, while news from Wuyao City revealed that someone had visited the Witch God Altar on Immortality Peak.

  • Li Yan and the four wealth-bestowing boys fought off the growing crowd of attackers as Mo Youqian warned that they risked being surrounded.
  • Li Baishou and Old Daoist Banshan returned to reinforce Wei Xing, but Xu Ersan told Banshan that capturing Little Prince Huai could save Lanyue, prompting Banshan to pursue Ren Ye.
  • Ren Ye, Ai Fei, and Xu Bangzi fled through the pass city while wounded and pursued, and Ren Ye asked whether Ai Fei could control three weapons at once.
  • Old Daoist Banshan attacked Ai Fei with his Mountain-Moving Talisman, and Ren Ye used the Night Walker and the Human Emperor Sword to try to hold back the descending mountain.
  • The mountain phantom pulverized the western side of the pass city, and Ai Fei and Xu Bangzi escaped toward the northern gate while Banshan assumed Ren Ye had been crushed.
  • In Wuyao City, Big Fat Dragon received word that someone had visited the Witch God Altar on Immortality Peak and urgently summoned Rat Lord.

  • Ba Wu arrived with troops and a barrage of arrows to protect the fleeing group, and Ren Ye said he was alive before fainting.

Ch. 443Awakening

Ren Ye woke in Lingnan Prefecture and learned that his companions had survived the battle at Loushan Pass, while Wu Pangzi reported that Ba Wu had changed his attitude toward their land purchase. Elsewhere, Guan Feng chose to remain in the Southern Border for one last plan, and Ba Wu learned that Han Chan had orchestrated the Great Qian operation.

  • Ren Ye woke from a nightmare, confirmed that Ai Fei, Xu Bangzi, Fenglin, and his other companions were safe, and heard Wu Pangzi recount how their victory had made them famous.
  • Wu Pangzi told Ren Ye that Ba Wu had stopped demanding six million Star Source and would speak on their behalf, so Ren Ye promised Wu Pangzi the sole official merchant position if the land purchase succeeded.
  • Guan Feng refused Xu Ersan's suggestion to flee to Great Qian and pointed to a place on a map as their remaining chance.
  • Xu Ersan agreed to stay beside Guan Feng, who told him to wait for Monk to arrive.
  • At Loushan Pass, an officer told Ba Wu that the captured Supernatural Ability Users had identified Han Chan, a descendant of the Han Family of Shangyu County and a leading figure in the Celestial Surveillance Bureau's Yulin Faction, as the operation's true organizer.

Ch. 444Han Chan's Identity

Ba Wu learned that Han Chan of the Yulin Faction was plotting against the Southern Border and sent the intelligence to Prince Huai, who recognized Han Chan as Poison Wine Flask. After the group considered returning to Qingliang Prefecture, an Imperial Edict summoned Prince Huai to the capital in two days, leaving him unsure whether to go.

Ch. 445Something Was Wrong

Ren Ye agreed to travel to the Southern Border Capital after Fenglin advised him to avoid promises, traps, taking charge, or making judgments, and he questioned whether the Yulin Faction could have orchestrated the turmoil. After learning the plague antidote had been prepared, Ren Ye prepared to leave, but the chapter ended with the arrival of an imperial commissioner whose appearance seemed familiar to him.

  • Ren Ye decided to go to the Capital with Fenglin's advice to keep quiet about expanding his territory and avoid making commitments or taking sides.
  • Ren Ye recruited Li Yan and assembled a ten-person traveling party, then sent a secret letter asking Yan Bo to send Hundred-Flower Immortal.
  • Ren Ye, Fenglin, and Li Yan discussed whether the Yulin Faction had enough power and time to set up the crisis across the Southern Border, and Ren Ye remained convinced that something was missing.
  • Ren Ye received Brother Liu's letter confirming that Er Leng and Old Liu had made the plague antidote and would join him after Qingliang Prefecture stabilized.
  • Ba Wu arrived at the Prefectural Yamen alongside a very short, black-robed imperial commissioner, whose familiar appearance startled Ren Ye.

Ch. 446Rat Lord arrived, setting off for the Capital together

  • Ren Ye recognized Chief Eunuch Wei Tingfang as Rat Lord and agreed to inspect Immortality Peak before entering the Capital.
  • Rat Lord told Ba Wu that the emperor wanted him to escort Ren Ye, and Ba Wu agreed after learning the emperor wished to see familiar faces.
  • Ren Ye and his companions discussed how the black qi and the emperor’s summons might relate to the ambush and Great Qian’s schemes.
  • Yan Bo wrote that an imperial edict required the Thousand-Mile Green Battalion’s leaders to accompany an envoy, so Wu Pangzi would represent the battalion on Ren Ye’s journey.
  • Fenglin explained why the ruler had summoned the battalion, and Ren Ye let him count the won bet as an investment.
  • Ren Ye, Rat Lord, Ba Wu, and their companions departed for the Capital, while Ba Wu asked his wife to question Wangcai about Zhou Qing if he returned.

Ch. 447The Witch God legend: Into Immortality Peak

Ren Ye learned rumors about the Witch God and reached Immortality Peak, where the imperial decree required him to enter alone because he bore Destiny. Inside the black energy, he saw the mountain move as if alive, then froze when the mist parted.

  • Rat Lord revealed that the second prince had shaved off all his fur and told Ren Ye the prince had been waiting for him in the Capital.
  • Rat Lord told Ren Ye that the Witch God returned to Immortality Peak to atone after losing to an opponent who supposedly did not exist.
  • Ren Ye and his party reached Immortality Mountain, where Rat Lord said only someone bearing Destiny could approach Immortality Peak and sent Ren Ye in alone.
  • Ren Ye entered the black energy with the Human Emperor Seal and Human Emperor Sword beside him, but the peak seemed no closer despite his long walk.
  • Ren Ye saw Immortality Peak seeming to breathe in rhythm with the world, then froze as the mist parted.

Ch. 448Where Did the Well Cover Go?

Ren Ye discovered a dry well spewing black fog before Immortality Peak’s sealed stone gate and glimpsed countless stone embryos beneath the earth. After he reported the well to Rat Lord, Rat Lord revealed that the Southern Border’s Destiny-Sealing Stone Slab had been stolen.

  • Ren Ye found a dry well near the stone gate and briefly saw masses of humanoid stone embryos buried beneath Immortality Peak.
  • Ren Ye could not approach the gate, then connected the site’s warnings about calamity to a prophecy in his father Ren Daguo’s letter.
  • Ren Ye returned to Rat Lord and his teammates, bargaining for a Capital residence before describing the well and its black fog.
  • Rat Lord asked about the stone slab covering the well, and Ren Ye said he had seen no cover.
  • Rat Lord panicked and declared that the Southern Border’s Destiny-Sealing Stone Slab had been stolen.

Ch. 449The scrawny old man

Ren Ye learned that the stolen destiny-sealing stone slab had supposedly caused Southern Border’s destiny to leak away, while he suspected it was connected to the ominous stone embryos beneath Immortality Peak. In the capital, Emperor Wanwu summoned officials over the secret letter, ordered Netherworld Envoy Xu Liang executed for failing to find Guan Feng and track Han Chan, and received the eldest prince as the third prince speculated about the court’s coming purge.

  • Rat Lord sent an urgent memorial to the capital and explained to Ren Ye that the stolen slab anchored Southern Border’s destiny and that its loss could bring ill omens.
  • Ren Ye doubted Rat Lord’s explanation and wondered whether the slab had sealed the anomalous stone embryos beneath Immortality Peak.
  • Emperor Wanwu read Rat Lord’s secret letter and summoned the Imperial Surveillance Office’s Netherworld Envoy and the eldest prince.
  • Xu Liang reported that he could not locate Guan Feng and only surmised that Han Chan had returned to Great Qian, so Emperor Wanwu ordered him beheaded.
  • The eldest prince arrived at Taiji Hall as the third prince discussed Xu Liang’s fate and wondered how many officials Emperor Wanwu would kill.

Ch. 450The winds stirred before his arrival

The Third Prince and First Prince discussed Little Prince Huai’s approach to the Capital and the possibility of trouble in Lingnan, while Guan Feng received a secret message urging him to wait for Little Prince Huai’s arrival. • Monk Peng told Guan Feng that a contact in the Capital was dissatisfied with their Immortality Mountain plans but thought matters could still turn around after Little Prince Huai entered the Capital.
  • Ren Ye read Lord Huang’s letter, learning that the Qingliang Prefecture plague had been resolved and that Tang Feng had gone with Apu to take high-rank missions in the Migration Land.
  • Ren Ye prepared to report his identifications of five Immortality Mountain secret-realm participants to the Heavenly Dao, naming the Second Prince, Han Chan, Young Master Guanfeng, and Daoist Fenglin among them.
