Background / History

Clan and Luo Continent

Nine Nether left her clan to gain experience on the Luo Continent, one of the Great Thousand World’s ten great super continents. An elder recommended her to one of its leading powers, where she became a higher-up despite not yet reaching the Supreme Realm. She attributes that position to her clan’s backing, her talent, and the elders’ affection for her 37.

After failing her tribulation, she eventually reached the Northern Spiritual Realm and lay dormant in the Black Nether Abyss. A Copper Fragment preserved a recording of her failed evolution and a map to her location. Once Su Qing brought it to Mu Feng, the Mu Domain resolved to prevent the Liu Domain from obtaining her soul essence 14 15 37.

Black Nether Abyss

Nine Nether concealed herself in a volcanic crater and prepared a trap. Her enormous black egg summoned a beast tide, then stripped the charging beasts of their life force and absorbed their essence. Su Qing recognized the danger and kept the Mu Domain outside the basin while the Liu Domain entered it 19.

After emerging, she challenged the Black God Lightning Tribulation with pillars and storms of black flame. When even her final charge failed, she ignited her feathers and self-destructed. This was a deliberate attempt to preserve her soul essence and seize another body—not the end of her life 20 21.

Possession and Sealing

Nine Nether considered both Mu Chen and Su Qing as hosts. Mu Chen’s lower cultivation made him easier to possess, but Su Qing’s superior talent tempted her into choosing him. His instinctive sword slash nearly killed her before she managed to enter his body 21.

Once discovered, she attacked his mind and attempted to destroy his Spirit Wheel. Su Qing bound her with golden threads and sealed her through Kunwu’s blue formation patterns. The seal, originally placed on the sword by Qing Yanjing, prevented her from escaping even when she emerged into his Qi Sea 21 22.

Bloodline Link and Recovery

During the battle against Liu Jingshan, Nine Nether offered Su Qing enough power to escape in exchange for recovery assistance and eventual freedom after taking human form. He refused to abandon Mu Feng. After his fatal final attack, she discovered that Kunwu’s destruction would not release her: the seal remained intact independently of the sword 24 25.

To save them both, she proposed a Bloodline Link and shared her inherited Nirvana ability. Her decision reflected both fear of permanent confinement and admiration for Su Qing’s resolve. Their link succeeded, allowing his rebirth and changing their relationship from captivity and hostility to cooperation 25 26.

Appearance

Nine Nether’s enormous bird form emerges amid black flames, with an elegant body and wings seemingly large enough to blot out a mountain 20.

Personality

Nine Nether is proud, confrontational, and unwilling to concede defeat. She retries an evolution that has already nearly killed her, then bitterly resists Su Qing’s seal and threatens to kill him once her strength returns. Her survival plans can be ruthless: she sacrifices a beast tide to replenish herself and attempts to take Su Qing’s body 19 20 21 22.

She nevertheless recognizes resolve in others. Before forming their link, she correctly concludes that Su Qing is too proud to refine her soul essence and comes to admire his refusal to abandon his family. Their later conversations reveal a playful side: she laughs at his inability to understand a scroll, exchanges barbs with him, and pulls his hair when his boasting becomes intolerable 24 25 27 37 90.

Her eagerness to recover can override caution. Despite Su Qing’s prohibition, she secretly condenses Heavenly Thunder Beads because she cannot resist the prospect of obtaining the blood essence needed for evolution 88.
