Background / History
Rise and Family Life
In his youth, Mu Feng fought alongside Zhou Ye across the Northern Spirit Plains. Zhou Ye became his sworn friend through life and death and helped him establish himself as lord of the Mu Domain 14.
While Qing Yanjing was pregnant with Mu Chen, the couple discovered the infant Su Qing during a trip into the mountains. They brought him home and adopted him, retaining the name written on his wrapping cloth. Shortly after Mu Chen’s birth, pressure from Qing Yanjing’s clan forced her to leave Mu Feng and the two children 4.
Mu Feng told both boys early on that Su Qing was adopted, without weakening their family bonds. When childhood gossip hurt Su Qing, Mu Feng brought gifts and awkwardly tried to comfort him. His companionship also helped Su Qing recover emotionally after cultivation deviation stripped away his cultivation 4 8.
The Copper Fragment and Mu Chen’s Seal
After Su Qing returned with news that he had killed Blood Butcher and Ji Zong, Mu Feng examined the Copper Fragment taken from Blood Butcher. He identified its depicted creature as the Nine Nether Sparrow, confirmed the identification through his Flame Dragon Condor’s fearful reaction, and activated the fragment to reveal her failed evolution and location. He resolved to prevent the Liu Domain from obtaining her power 14.
Mu Feng allowed both sons to accompany the expedition, though he warned the weaker Mu Chen against recklessness. He also explained that Qing Yanjing had sealed Mu Chen’s Spiritual Vein to protect him and prevent excessive talent from outpacing his temperament. He refused to disclose every detail and warned Mu Chen not to disturb the seal before becoming strong enough 15.
To develop Mu Chen’s inherited aptitude, Mu Feng arranged instruction in Spirit Arrays. He also revealed that Qing Yanjing had been unable to safely seal Su Qing’s talent and had sealed Kunwu instead 15 16.
Black Nether Abyss Expedition
Mu Feng and Zhou Ye placed the Liu Domain under surveillance and recalled the Mu Domain’s city lords before entering the Black Nether Abyss with both sons and nearly a hundred fighters 16.
During the expedition, Mu Feng warned his sons about possible retaliation after Su Qing killed Liu Mubai. He followed Su Qing’s guidance across the crocodile-infested swamp and accepted his warning to remain outside the volcanic basin rather than rush toward the Nine Nether Sparrow 17 18 19.
When the Nine Nether Sparrow began to self-destruct after failing her tribulation, Mu Feng seized Mu Chen and led the retreat. He and Zhou Ye raised a barrier against the falling black flames. The party returned to the Mu Domain two days later 20 21.
War with the Liu Domain
Following the expedition, Mu Feng began considering an attack on the weakened Liu Domain. Su Qing’s warning that Liu Jingshan was alive and nearing a breakthrough increased the urgency, but Mu Feng favored cooperation with other domains to account for outside intervention and the Liu Domain’s allies 22 23.
Liu Jingshan attacked before those plans could be carried out. During the defense of the main city, Mu Feng deliberately took Liu Qing’s palm strike on his shoulder and restrained him, allowing Su Qing to behead him. Mu Feng and Zhou Ye then cornered Liu Ming, whom Mu Feng killed with a palm strike that shattered his spirit 23 24.
Mu Feng remained beside Su Qing for the final confrontation with Liu Jingshan. He again attempted to immobilize their opponent, but Liu Jingshan’s transformation into a Two-Headed Demonic Hound hurled both defenders away. Mu Feng suffered severe limb injuries and lost consciousness; Su Qing subsequently killed Liu Jingshan 24.
Recovery and Expansion
Mu Feng awoke to find Zhou Ye and Mu Chen returned and Su Qing enclosed in a fiery lotus. Still weakened by his own injuries, he waited anxiously for his adopted son’s recovery 26.
When Mangyin Mountain’s attack killed City Lord Chen Xiong, Mu Feng wanted revenge but judged a frontal assault too costly. He prioritized absorbing Liu Domain territory and asked Tang Shan to watch the stronghold. Su Qing instead undertook the retaliation himself 26 27.
The Mu Domain secured more than half of the former Liu Domain’s cities and most of its treasury resources. At Su Qing’s suggestion, Mu Feng arranged to relocate its grade-two Spirit Gathering Array to another city and worked with Wen Ling to prepare a new one for the main city 27.
During Mu Feng’s recovery, Su Qing traveled throughout the Northern Spiritual Realm in his place for two months. Mu Feng later saw both sons off for the Five Great Academies’ entrance trials, hearing their promise to bring Qing Yanjing home 32.

- Black hair interspersed with white strands, giving him a weathered appearance 14.
- Wears black robes when receiving his sons at the Mu Estate 14.
- After fighting Liu Jingshan, remains pale and prone to coughing from his injuries 26.
Personality
Mu Feng is affectionate and teasing with his sons, greeting them with mock scolding while taking pride in their accomplishments. He treats Su Qing’s adoption as no obstacle to their bond and reassures Mu Chen even when the boy’s proposed swamp-crossing plan proves flawed 4 14 18.
As a ruler, he balances retaliation with practical limits. He recognizes the danger of the Liu Domain gaining overwhelming power, but also considers neighboring factions, hostile allies, manpower, and the cost of an assault. His willingness to restrain enemies at personal risk contrasts with his caution when planning campaigns 14 23 24 26.
