Spiritual energy wound around the arrow in Ye Fei's hand. He shot through an incoming birdlike Mutation Beast, and the hand gripping his spirit-tool longbow instantly dropped. A Golden Light Shield formed in front of his hand, blocking the sharp teeth of a beast lunging up from below.
The mouth full of sharp teeth bit down on the Golden Light Shield, scraps of flesh from the gorilla carcass it had gnawed on earlier still stuck between its teeth.
Even with the Golden Light Shield blocking it, Ye Fei instantly felt a foul stench wash over him.
"Get lost!"
His fingers closed around the longbow again, and Ye Fei released a burst of spiritual energy from his hand, intending to use the Golden Light Shield's defensive power to fling the wolf-like beast with its gaping mouth away.
But the spiritual energy in his hand did not pass outward. Instead, when it touched the longbow, it activated the Phoenix Bird feathers he had originally thought were decorations.
The longbow remained a longbow, but the feathers on either side of the grip grew much longer, like a Phoenix Bird's outstretched wings, with sharp blades along their edges.
As Ye Fei pressed his arm down and swept it outward, the blades wreathed in fire cut into the wolf-like beast's gaping mouth, slicing half its head clean off.
He consumed 30 points of spiritual energy in an instant, and his mental energy and stamina immediately dropped by more than ten points too, but that power...
