Background / History

The King of Reincarnation emerged from the Grave Region without memories of his original identity. A little girl explained that losing oneself was a price some ancient pinnacle cultivators paid to survive the passage of time. She named him Reincarnation, and they left the burial ground together after the flourishing of the Dao had ended 699.

He and the little girl subsequently founded the Netherworld. She could not grow up and periodically lost her memories, sometimes remaining confused for a century. Reincarnation instead died every few centuries and eventually crawled out of his grave again. These cycles created the impression that he had first appeared only three hundred years before the current era 699.

His own memories deteriorated until, as a Nine-Step King, he knew little beyond his title. His attempt to become a Supreme Powerhouse restored fragments of his past. He then discovered that experiencing life and death could recover both his memories and his former strength 699.

Appearance

  • Usual appearance: An exceptionally handsome older man with long hair and white robes, described as resembling a banished immortal 170.
  • Bearing: Tall and imposing, with a composed presence that becomes sharply threatening when he draws his sword 537 547.
  • Rejuvenation: His breakthrough renews his skin and physique; later reconstruction through the Book of Life produces an even younger body 544 737.
  • Recovered appearance: By the later Yin God battles, witnesses find him markedly younger and more handsome than before. His eyes appear to contain stars, and his presence resembles the sharpest sword between heaven and earth 807 812.

Personality

Reincarnation combines an elder’s protectiveness with conspicuously youthful behavior. He enjoys social media, pays attention to compliments about his looks, and gives his raid livestream the theatrical title “Bloodbath in the Dark Alliance: King of Reincarnation Special.” His attempts to fit in with younger people later include smoking after Jiang Chen tells him it is fashionable 170 557.

His informal manner does not lessen his commitment to the Nine Provinces. He distributes resources intended for his own breakthrough to its defenders and risks the tenth step because waiting would leave the country vulnerable to stronger outsiders. His role is compared to an elder who must remain behind to guard the family home 419 461 542.

He is also socially shrewd. After hostile ancient cultivators soften their attitudes, he offers cigarettes, invokes their descendants and lineages, and encourages them to support the Netherworld. He can acknowledge mistakes, admitting that his earlier impulsiveness may have deprived the Nine Provinces’ fighters of an opportunity on the Blood River 556 656.

His attachment to Xiaoxuan is a major vulnerability. Her apparent return nearly draws him into Dream Country, and the possibility of seeing her again later motivates his pursuit of the Book of Life 547 699.

Abilities & Skills

Sword Dao

Reincarnation describes his swordsmanship as self-taught. His later understanding centers on a swordsman following his heart rather than remaining confined to particular techniques 537 542.

  • Nine Reincarnation Swords: Embody his accumulated learning, with one sword comprehended in each of nine lifetimes 542.
  • Dragon-Slaying: Releases a blue-white dragon capable of cleaving the sea and severing its flow 542.
  • Heaven-Lifting Momentum: Crushes Blood Man into dust and causes Divine Spirit Valley to sink dozens of meters 537.
  • Slash, Slaughter, and Heaven-Piercing: Expressions of his developing sword Dao during the tenth-step breakthrough 543.
  • Heaven-Opening: Kills Old Zheng at Ninth Stage peak and, in an earlier battle, destroys a treasure capable of seventh-tier combat power 682 737.
  • Earth-Covering: Delivers crushing pressure resembling the collapse of the sky 683.
  • Roaming Dragon Sword Qi: Produces expanding sword light that covers the sky and sea 785.
  • Adaptive technique: Incorporates the Master of the Artifact Gate’s spear technique into a sword thrust against him 650.

Sword Intent, Domains, and Formations

  • Long-range pressure: His drawn sword threatens observers tens of thousands of meters away; weaker viewers feel their eyes sting even through a livestream 170 537.
  • Spiritual purification: Cuts away Blood Man’s intrusive demonic influence without harming the affected cultivators 538.
  • Reincarnation Sword Formation: Creates swords throughout the surrounding air, ground, and clouds 652.
  • Reincarnation Sword Domain: Coordinates the Heavenly Swords to shred a sixth-tier Sacred Soul Sect woman 683.
  • Time-related sword attack: Draws a sword from the river of time to pin the Supreme Powerhouse controlling the Luo Tian Blood Hands formation 653.
  • Blood Sacrifice Sword Diagram: Traps and suppresses three Top Yin Gods simultaneously 813.
  • Limits: Li Xuanzhen overpowers his domain and sword intent. A sufficiently powerful Heaven-Opening strike can also exhaust his available sword intent temporarily 653 683.

Reincarnation and Recovery

  • Recurring revival: Dies every few centuries and later rises from his grave 699.
  • Memory and power restoration: Life-and-death experiences recover portions of his forgotten past and former cultivation 699.
  • Sword-intent skeleton: Replaces his ruined skeletal support with enduring sword intent during the water calamity, at the cost of continuous pain 544.
  • Book-assisted reconstruction: Preserves his remnant soul in the Book of Life and uses it to form a new body 737.
  • Limits: Repeated revival originally worsened his memory loss. A newly reconstructed body is also painfully sensitive 699 737.

Movement and Spatial Travel

  • Sword Steps: Uses elusive footwork to close distance and evade attacks while continuing his sword assault 650.
  • Spatial rifts: Tears open the void to travel with companions after his physical transformation 544 552.
  • Sword flight: The Nine Dragons Heavenly Swords carry him at tremendous speed 696.
  • Prepared escape routes: Uses a prearranged, self-destructing formation to evade pursuers carrying the Book of Life 696.
  • Limit: Cannot force open Formless City after its restrictions become a dead formation, even with formation specialists assisting 671.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Three-foot sword: His early weapon; rendered as the Green Edge Sword and Green Peak Sword in the supplied passages. It breaks under heavenly suppression during his breakthrough, but he continues using the broken blade afterward 537 538 543 553.
  • Nine Dragons Heavenly Swords and Sword Case: Nine swords associated with a peerless swordsman from the late Dao Prosperity Era. Eight can act together while he personally wields the ninth 682 683.
  • Book of Life: Part of the Life-and-Death Book, obtained in Qingqiu. He seeks to test whether it can resurrect the dead; it demonstrably shelters his remnant soul and reconstructs his body 696 699 737.
  • Seize the Moon, Prison Cauldron, and Slash Dao Corpse: Three Dao Master-level weapons used against Penglai’s ancient Great Power 793.
  • Sword Talisman: Given to Jiang Chen by Sun Zhengwen. It can attract Reincarnation’s attention and potentially create an opportunity to become his disciple 370.
  • Divine Sacrifice items and offerings: Accumulated breakthrough resources that he distributes among the Nine Provinces’ defenders. One item is a bronze candlestick engraved with a damaged ghostlike or godlike figure 461.

Relationships

  • Jiang Chen / King Chen — Fellow defender and trusted companion. Reincarnation invites him to witness his journey toward the tenth step and repeatedly protects him in battle; Jiang Chen assumes leadership during his absence 539 650 698.
  • Xiaoxuan — The Netherworld’s first Yama King and the woman he longs to see again. Her image becomes Dream Country’s temptation, and resurrecting her is a central motive for seeking the Book of Life 547 699.
  • The little girl — His ancient companion and fellow founder of the Netherworld. She names him Reincarnation; her inability to age and recurring memory loss parallel his own condition 699.
  • Uncle Wei / King Wei Wu — A junior he has cared for extensively. Uncle Wei regards him as something like a second master and vehemently defends his loyalty to the Nine Provinces 802.
  • Unnamed disciple — Films his Dark Alliance raid, teases his livestream presentation, and retreats when his sword pressure becomes too intense 170.
  • Sister Hong / Li Hongya — Recognized as a descendant of the Li family. He gives her rare sacrificial offerings and offers a source of help in danger 461 502.
  • Zhou Tai — Fellow Supreme Powerhouse and defensive ally; fights beside him against Great Asura and the Sacred Soul Sect’s master 672 677.
  • Tie Zhu — Temporarily occupies the Underground City’s main seat, then welcomes Reincarnation back and briefs him on its defensive and cultivation systems 810.
  • Li Xuanzhen — An enemy Great Sword Cultivator who overwhelms him and seeks his life and sword. Surviving their encounter precedes a rapid recovery of his strength 653 699.
  • Sacred Soul Sect — A recurring enemy involved in border attacks, the pursuit of the Book of Life, and repeated attempts to kill him 683 699.

  • His successful entry into the Supreme Powerhouse Realm prompts celebrations throughout the Nine Provinces and alarm abroad 547.

  • During the continuing invasion, suppresses three Top Yin Gods with the Blood Sacrifice Sword Diagram 813.
