Beside her, Chizome Souya went pale. "Sis..."

Chizome Tsubaki's sword had pierced the Menos Grande's eye, but its claw had also punched through her abdomen. With a flick of its claw, it sent her body arcing through the air, trailing a long streak of red.

Worse, its two injured eyes were healing at astonishing speed.

Watching these two little creatures struggle so hard only to fall into despair was simply too entertaining.

Chizome Souya backed away step by step, his face full of despair. The Menos Grande charged at him like a tank.

A ten-year-old child had no hope of stopping it.

Its enormous claw slammed down!

All Souya could do was close his eyes and wait to die.

But the searing pain never came.

Souya forced his eyes open. Someone stood before him, holding off the Menos Grande's attack with just one hand.

"Teacher... Yamabuki..." Souya felt as though he were dreaming.

"Looks like I made it in time." Yamabuki Chidori hadn't expected Chizome Tano's luck to be this bad. The man had run into a Menos Grande the moment he went out. Chidori had only realized something was wrong when he sensed Tsubaki's reiatsu growing terribly faint.

He glanced at Tsubaki and found the girl barely breathing.

"A Soul Reaper!" The Menos Grande glared at Chidori. "Even better. I've eaten three Soul Reapers..."

Before it could finish, a terrifying surge of reiatsu erupted. The Menos Grande was crushed into reishi and scattered into the air.

"I don't have time to waste on you." Chidori grabbed Souya and hurried to Tsubaki's side.

Tsubaki had only one breath left, yet she stubbornly clung to consciousness.

"Thank goodness... Teacher Yamabuki came... Now I can... rest easy." The moment she saw him, her resolve slackened, and her consciousness began to fade.
