Just as the man and woman were filled with beautiful hopes for the future, planning to adopt a child and raise him into a three-person bank-robbing crew, a streak of fire flashed across the sky not far away.
Something, perhaps a meteor, crashed into a rice field several hundred meters away with a long flaming tail. Dirt sprayed dozens of meters into the air, and the thunderous boom made even the little truck shudder.
"Was that a meteor?" The woman put away the medical records and looked at the lingering trail of clouds in the sky.
The man nodded as the vehicle slowly decelerated. "Probably. Want to go take a look? Maybe meteors can be sold for money."
The two got out of the truck. The woman pulled two Uzi submachine guns from beneath her seat, while the man hauled an AK74 out from the truck's ceiling. Money was great and all, but they had seen plenty of movies about aliens. Bringing guns for self-defense was only natural.
