While General Ross was giving interviews, the yellow-green monster on the bridge naturally had no intention of sparing him any dignity.

It looked like a semi-transparent giant bubble of water. There was no sign of anything resembling a brain inside it, and how it had managed to move around until now remained a mystery.

If it were still the fingernail-sized bug it had once been, muddleheadedness would not have been much of a problem. But with its current size and strength, coupled with its chaotic stupidity, it was practically as unstoppable against humans as the Old Ones.

Its left and right tentacles moved in slow motion, as though gathering strength. Then a huge mouth split open across its chest and spewed out an enormous volume of yellow-green gas.

It turned out that after being bombed and scorched on the bridge, the gas inside its body had expanded from the heat, forcing it to find an outlet.

Simply put, it had burped.

That was certainly a relief for it, but to anyone without a gas mask, that foul, rotten breath was hundreds of times more potent than tear gas.
