Walking to the broken section of the bridge, Su Ming looked at the enormous Gamma Worms in the distance. Its dozen-plus red eyes were like searchlights, and its raised head stood taller than the bridge pylons supporting the suspension cables.
The knockoff Captains had suffered heavy losses, but they had not been wiped out. Those who had gradually recovered threw themselves back into the fight. They were still worthy of being called military elites, stubbornly fighting to the death without retreating.
Maybe they really believed they were Captain America.
Deathstroke put away his golden scimitar, drew a black greatsword from his belt pouch, and casually rested it on his shoulder. Then he crouched at the cliff's edge and silently watched the battle.
"Um... aren't you going to help?"
Liberty Belle sidled over on tiptoe, her face full of fear. When she was little, her grandmother had told her many horror stories starring Deathstroke because she slept too restlessly.
Her grandmother said that if children misbehaved, Deathstroke would crawl out from beneath their beds at midnight and drag them into a world of darkness.
There, the children would never see their parents or families again. They would peel potatoes for the Demon King Deathstroke twenty-four hours a day, eating nothing but watery mush themselves. Studying, learning, or playing games would be out of the question. The only entertainment for disobedient children there was biting their fingernails for a while before bed.
There were plenty of similar stories, all about how Deathstroke tortured disobedient children and how terrifying the dark world was.
Wouldn't eat green peppers? Picky eaters would be taken by Deathstroke. Wouldn't study properly? Ignorant children would be taken by Deathstroke. And so on, and so forth.
Whenever Liberty Belle acted up as a child, she would hear such stories.
