But Fury had bragged to Rose beforehand, claiming that he had invited Deathstroke himself. If he showed surprise now, would that not expose the lie?
Black Charcoal would not make such a mistake. With a perfectly calm expression, he said, "No comment."
Those simple two words displayed S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mystery and prestige, making him feel even more triumphant in front of Rose.
He knew that once General Rose returned, he would report everything he had seen to his superiors. If they categorized Deathstroke as part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s forces, Fury would gain an ace that did not exist, yet everyone else would believe did.
At a time like this, the more he said, the more likely he was to make a mistake. It was best
