Just as it spread its wings and took off, Deathstroke's voice came from the hall. Though he was not loud, the Raven—made for spying and eavesdropping—could hear him perfectly.

It hovered in the air for a moment, then flew back into the hall and landed on Deathstroke's table, tilting its head to look at him with red eyes.

Su Ming nudged the white meat on the plate before him, picked out a sufficiently fatty piece, and fed it to her. "Please inform His Majesty Odin that I have news of his brother. Ask him to come to Kamar-Taj so we can talk."

The Raven, who had been pecking at the fat with her pointed black beak, froze. She seemed doubtful of what she had heard, but after Deathstroke nodded at her again, she realized she had not misheard.

This was urgent. She immediately turned, intending to fly away.

"No need to pass the message along. I'm here." A one-eyed old man in a loose, coarse robe appeared amid the fading glow of a rainbow. The Raven flew back onto his shoulder. "Heimdall has his attention on this place. I heard what you said."

"I thought you were still asleep." Su Ming rose and walked into the courtyard, shaking Odin's hand. "Welcome to Kamar-Taj."

Odin stroked the black bird on his shoulder and looked around at the picturesque courtyard. Peach blossoms and bamboo had been planted throughout it. Water trickled down the artificial rockery in the pond, while several koi swam happily through the water, lotus leaves casting patches of shade above their heads.

The air was filled with a sense of leisure and understated elegance, utterly different from the Golden Palace.
