Fortunately, this was a military academy. Though the cadets were somewhat panicked, they quickly rebuilt a command structure according to military regulations and began an orderly evacuation.
Steve and Bucky, who came running over, noticed some partially buried tanks and armored vehicles at the edge of the ruins, as well as quite a few armed soldiers.
"Something's wrong. There shouldn't be guards carrying live ammunition inside a military academy."
Holding his shield high as identification, Steve led Bucky against the flow of the crowd. Once they had broken free of the stream of people, he jumped onto a nearby tree to look for survivors.
Bucky was more direct. He went to a flowerbed, where a soldier with his head crushed by a chunk of concrete lay. This soldier had been fully armed.
Squatting down to search him, Bucky removed the bloodstained dog tags and wiped them with his sleeve, examining the words on them.
But these dog tags were different from any Bucky had seen before. There was no clear information on them. The front only had the soldier's name and blood type, while the back bore a single word—"Project Z."
"It's a classified military unit, Captain!"
"What does it say?" Steve ran over and snatched the dog tags for a look. After all, he had remained active with the SSR for some time after the war, so he knew more about these secret departments than Bucky did.
Seeing the unit's name, Cap's mouth twitched. The fire sparked by the explosion was spreading, and flaming debris flying everywhere had set many nearby buildings ablaze.
"You know it?" Bucky asked as he went to wrench open a fire hydrant by the roadside.
"You should know it too. It's one of the military's 'weapon' projects. I was just the lucky white mouse."
