Bucky held his gun without firing for the moment. Leaning against Steve's shoulder, he quietly shared his assessment.
Steve held his shield up with both hands, peering over its edge at the green figure not far from the ruins. Just as Bucky had said, he noticed that this Greenskin Monster had limbs and a head identical to a human's, only enlarged several times over.
"This thing might have been human before. I knew military projects always went wrong. They always have."
Bucky chuckled. It was true—even in the experiment that successfully transformed Steve, Dr. Erskine had been abducted by Deathstroke. It could be said that no military experiment had ever gone smoothly.
"Don't worry about what he used to be. Still, I'm curious about the material of his shorts. They seem pretty stretchy."
"Bucky? Focus. I'll try talking to him first."
Steve rolled his eyes, somewhat speechless at Bucky. After telling him to stay hidden, he slowly advanced with his shield raised.
If this green giant retained even a little human reason, perhaps they could reason with him.
Captain America was not particularly good at reasoning with people, because he knew that some of his views and habits belonged to the thirties and forties. Young people in the nineties generally did not buy into that anymore.
But there might still be survivors trapped beneath the ruins, waiting for rescue. If he could peacefully and quickly persuade this unknown monster in front of him, that was naturally the best option.
