As they warmed themselves by the fire and made plans, the sound of leaves rubbing together suddenly came from the beach forest some distance away.
Su Ming did not know what these broad-leaved trees with enormous purple flowers were called, but their dense foliage formed a wall along the shore that blocked the wind and moisture. Beneath their roots, all kinds of thick shrubs had grown as well.
Now, flowers and fruit of every color hung amid the bushes, trembling like bells along with the sound. It was a warning.
"Prepare for battle!" Diana was the first to leap to her feet. Her sword and shield were beside her, and she immediately assumed a defensive stance.
She had seen the bugs here before. If she had a choice, she would rather face Brainiac's overwhelming mechanical octopuses or Darkseid's army of Parademons than fight the Genesis Zerg.
Even after the bugs here were killed, their corpses could instantly be fused by other bugs, making the survivors even stronger. It was practically endless.
"No rush."
Su Ming drew his pistol and fired into the shrubs. A bullet spun from the barrel, trailing heat as it flew into the brush. A muffled impact sounded, clearly indicating that it had hit something.
Yet no expected roar or scream followed. Instead, familiar English came from the bushes. The accent was somewhat strange, as though the speaker had a gap in its teeth, but it was undoubtedly English.

A huge multicolored bug crawled out. Its limbs were bright yellow, its body vivid red, its head cyan-blue, and its tail black.
It crawled forward like a bear, but it was larger than any bear Su Ming had ever seen. Its body was covered in facial features in various places. It was clearly
