After Harley's interruption, Diana wandered dazedly through the door. The instant the air conditioning's chill hit her, she snapped awake.
She had expected it to be the back entrance to Blackstone Fortress, perhaps leading to something like a demon locker room. Instead, this place was completely different from what she had imagined.
Before the three of them stretched a corridor. Its cement floor had been polished to a bright sheen, soundproofing material covered the walls, and brilliant fluorescent lights hung overhead.
Offices lined both sides of the hallway, though the signs on their doors mostly identified them as archives or storage rooms.
But this was unquestionably human architectural style, utterly different from anything demons would build.
"Where are we?"
Diana warily raised her sword and shield. Their earlier chatter and horseplay had merely been part of the operation; now she had to find a way to rescue her sister.
Harley was set down. She turned her head from side to side, then peered through the crack of an office door by the road. Looking thoughtful, she seemed to have understood something.
She immediately swung her mallet, smashed the lock, and went inside. A moment later, she emerged carrying an inflatable toy greatsword, which she thumped against Deathstroke twice with a hollow thump, thump.
"This is a She-Ra's Sword collectible. I think I know where we are."
Su Ming nodded, gesturing for the two women to follow as they headed deeper down the corridor. "You guessed right. This is Channel 52, the headquarters of a group of Wall-Breakers."
"Have I watched too little television?" Seeing the two of them fooling around, Diana slowly put away her weapons. They did not look nervous in the slightest. "I don't remember there being a Channel 52 in the United States."
